The Aftermath

She met the man at the singles party

Words were then exchanged at the same vicinity

Expression of love was seen evident in their faces

Love at first sight was all they expresses

contacts were then exchanged

And weeks after, their attitudes they changed

Their love solution was now intense

hence it was highly saturated and dense

She then introduced him to her mother

He therefore introduced her to his father

They knew each other more than better

apart from kisses, they mingled with letters

Evident enough was best of luck in their future

outings therefore, became their second nature

their future could only be defined as sweeter

and nothing bitter

was ever to come between them

After months of courtship, plans for wedding became their main aim

And in the month of October, I became their best man

to bond them with none but together as one

She then became a mother

astonishing the rest and amazing others

After this the table turned upside down

She could never raise the child on her own

Her once loving husband was never home to be found

but in clubs with other women, money he threw on the ground

Not only that, women after women, he slept with

His reputation was degraded beneath

the rate he expected

He was no longer respected

but as time passed, he died unexpected

leaving his wife with something mere to be inherited

HIV/AIDS was at work, her expectations at work

were disregarded and always considered as whack

She had a burden to bear

The future of her child was her biggest fear

Her husband left her with something shameful to wear

The least she could do was to pick up the shame and tear

Her life was full of dramatic trauma

Her future was to bear traumatic drama

She was left jobless and hopeless

living in misery and full of mystery

because of being HIV positive

But later, her dressing code became suggestive

She lived with the discrimination

and positively remained outspoken for the stigmatization

This to her was life

She cared less and thanked God for once having been a wife

Her child remained her precious asset

And today her precious life we celebrate the best

A CRY FROM WITHIN: YET TO BE BORN

Mummy please spare me, don’t push

For I know outside there I shall hide in the bush

Still yet don’t push, am afraid of the bullets

Who shall fulfill the wishes of my wallet?

The dreams I have from within

Inside here am healthy, the world will make me thin

Yes, I love the inside warmth

But mummy please just take an oath

Don’t push

Am I to die by the bullet of a gun

0r am I to live by ways and means of learning how to run

Am I to grow up strolling the streets?

And experience the harsh conditions of the sun’s heat

For I know I shall be afraid of the dark

As every night shall always darken and paint my life black

Yes, I shall return the questionnaires blank

Since every answer will never pounce me good luck

Mummy please do me a favor

Inside here I know I shall always endeavor

My plea is simple

Don’t push

I hear outside there they hustle

If it aint dancehall then it is to bustle

I’ll be sick of this

With dry lips, who shall give me a kiss

With swollen cheeks

I’ll be downgraded and juxtaposed with chicks

The amnion is my only home

Come on, I’ve already filled the residents form

Mummy help me out

Don’t push

I know outside there is filled with CO2

And so dear is there crisis about O2

Should I come out and face that dreadful condition

Or should I stay focused to my unnatural decision

Mummy, how horrendous degree of the sun

You think I shall grow up to be a man?

Inside here I can nourish my life

Outside there I shall flourish with the knife

Mummy please……

Don’t push

My heart sings

My ear rings

I know the world

Not much I would

I aint full of doubt

As I have scanned the world inside out

Should I leave the womb and die in shame

Yet am ought to stay and cast you the fame

I know the world is full of agonistic pain

The land is polluted with acid rain

Mummy please hear my plea

Don’t push

Should this be a drive-way to get rid of me

The labour pains will be unbearable so just let me be

Out in the world, I know is wild

Out and about my pains will never be mild

Mummy please hear me out

Don’t push

Premonition

They stood at the feet of the seashore with screams in tacked and dreams packed to the

crescendo of paradise

They yelled praiseworthy to the Almighty but their earthly deeds proved untrustworthy

The sea was on fire as the sky turned black and earth yellow

Their lives were smashed and no longer mellowed

Their once prerogative lifestyle was degraded

into a storyline without precision but mighty of prejudice

On sandy storms they erected tents, their bodies full of dents, their lives downgraded

and their ravenous life became upgraded with carcasses and corpses

They lived like as if tomorrow never existed- listening to the murmurs and whispers of

death not knowing the lot expected for escort to the underworld.

Death was so cunning and from her, no one thought of ever running

The air was so stinky and stenchy as the level of the heavens accelerated downwards

creating abysmal atmosphere which was a threat to the surviving mortals

Destruction was declared on the scrapers of the world and even those who had been laid

to rest in peace before espylacopa witnessed the end of the metro!

GANGSTA POETRY

A mission aint impossible

Gangsta rocks, life is simple

The dead are already walking

The deadly are already walking

Gangsta lives on

Life will never be gone

Hold on!

A sense of hybrid precision

Is posted against our highest position

Gangsta live up

And this life you got to revamp

GHETTO WORDs

In houses they live but structures defined

Their lives are simple but complicated attimes

And that's why I say;

Deep down in the heart of Kibera

Resides the dark mirror

That reflects pain onto the walls of gain

With shredded dreams

They still focus on an audible future

Their legitimate rights are awarded

To the Big man tinted ideas

With a quarter dollar reward

Who are never satisfied with their inhumane

characters?

The more they chant for change

They degrade the need for change

Their five-year ideal lifestyle

Is downgraded to a one day greed for survival

Their life is degraded

Violence to them is upgraded

They trek and trek long distances for survival

But one thing for sure, economy is still their

rival

They are lashed and mashed in the presence

of aid arrival

They no longer pray for tomorrow, they chantamen for today

Manifesting the faked disguise of destitution

by politicians to them aint the way

Their way is tight, narrow, dusty and without

light

They live in the dark night, no light, black-

white and dim sight

With smashed ambitions, dashed visions andbrushed missions

They still focus on a legible future

Tortured minds, torched lives, scorched withknives and minimum strives

is their definite legitimate styled way of

archives

That is life, to them is stale, their biggest

role is to make it roll

Kibera my home, I live with pride

And all my hopes will never be dried

WHITE POETRY

We don’t degrade a sense of futuristic optimism

All in all we downgrade a dense sense

Of life's vitriolic criticism

Yes the past was black and white

But today seems to be far and wide

White doves are above the sky

True love is about to fly

But then white light is reflected above the wall

a divine epitome

Of how we are about to rock and roll

Greatness bow before us

And with great minds

We aint defy to focus

Rejoice and enjoy this art of existence

Turn all pages reading the treasure

Hidden among all pages

Listen

Listen! It's high time we make this an

obligation

No sex before marriage that is the formation

Defame my fame but just let me do theintroduction

Love is so sick it needs some medication

Listen! This theme is true life and that is my

formation

Don’t move with the masses but focus on your

destination

Yes! They’ve got true lies to make you

oppression

Nothing comes for free-mind their intention

Love is a big problem-it got a strange solution

Listen! You young and troubled future

generation

Death has taken a higher elevation

Celebrate life before you worsen your

condition

Let them hate your name but perfect on your

reputation

Your game is upgraded and so they want arepetition

Don’t get so demoted-Endeavour for a

promotion

Life is short but never alleviate the caution

It is stupid to live without an ambition

Listen! Love is so genetic-deduce your own

creation

The strict you fall in it-the better the

evolution

So its high you got to stick to your foundation

Live like a king to accomplish your mission

It is so unfortunate we live for a particular

duration

But still yet we indulge in some mundane

reaction

Listen! We got to convert stupidity in moralperfection

Deduce with the wise to understand oral

tradition

Strive to learn from every mortal's

motivation

This is a TRUE LIFE message not an illusion

The JOURNEY has just began & this is a

revolution

Back to Back

Back to back I lay back

Back to back I lay back

Back to back by then I used to be Tupac

Flossing around that I’ve got six pack fully packed, but I came to my senses; it was all vanity packed

My life was dark, blank and black

I asked myself 'what is it I lack?'

My dreams were bad luck, charcoal stained and darkened dark

Back to back I came back and asked God to pounce me good luck

I no longer chewed barks

My appetite no longer lacked ducks

Back to back home I backed, fully packed was my backpack

With contents of greatness, i needed back up

But back to back I used to bark

My life was wrecked, dread and wretched

I once fell but I bounced back

Heaven I seek, wisdom dripped

My dream I reaped as back to back nothing I lacked with dreams fully packed, well parked

My ambitions were luck; white not black

And back to back for once I was in the dark, dashed and blank

But now am no longer dark and black as back to back, glory I now bark

SEEING IS BEREAVING (V.2.1)

I see hell breaking loose

And death is the breaking news

I see nothing good

My dude is dead in the hoodCoz tiger is out of the woods

I see them poison my own food

And eat it at their own risk

I see dead bodies friskedCoz pathologists are drug dealers

And morgue attendants drug peddlers

I see corruption live on television

And the government’s spokesman call it an ambition

I see hell encroaching heavenI see the modern day 911

I see teachers teaching us fiction

And say that facts will blur our vision

To date I’ve seen the sky turn red

Coz the Bible is never widely read

I’ve seen the hangman standing next to his noose

Coz the top comedian in the world no longer amuse

On a Sunday morning, I’ve seen churches empty

Christians have given up the fight, what a pityThe priest is no longer respected

Coz at that particular crime scene, he was the only one suspected

At night I’ve police distorting law and orderAnd the next day’s newspapers, I read nothing but murder

I’ve seen cemeteries being closed down

Coz last night many people killed their own

SEEING IS BEREAVING (V.3.1)

I could hear the rhythm

But poetry wasn’t part of the hymn

I could see them talkAnd the lame proceeded to talk

I could feel their deep breath

And imagined how they could fear death

I heard them singing love songs

But to them hate became an anthem and lived long

I saw the people working

But to say the truth, their wages were nothing

I could feel their pain

Coz all they did was all in vainI could see them beating drums

And none among them could dance

They said they were wearing black

Coz their future they knew was about to be dark

All their children I’ve seen were thin

But could do nothing coz God was within

I saw them all die

Coz their lives they said was all but a lie

THE AFTERMATH III

And when emotions took her role

She sorted to gain her dues from a stripper’s pole

Now she’s crying foulAnd regretted why men had to treat her like a doll

Why she was used to shaking her ass to gain it allWhy she used to put on stilettos to look like as if she was tallAt this very moment she’s no longer a role model

The letters she used to receive no longer have the initials L.O.L

She messed up her lifeAnd no man could ever think of taking her as a wife

Now she has to carry her own crossAnd gain from her own loss

But first and foremost

At eighteen years, her virginity was lost

Her morality was gone

And she was left all aloneNow she regrets why

She had to listen to him lieShe was dying of venereal

Her dreams could no longer seem real

Having plugged the unpluggedAnd at the back she now had to lag

You reap what you sow

I remembered she said, ‘boy your pockets are so low

This night I think you’ll have to sleep solo’I thank God I wasn’t tempted to touch

Maybe by now I could be playing a similar matchI thank God that day He made me brokeIf I was loaded her desires I was due to rock

Gave her my time but couldn’t pay attention to the clockNow her time is gone

Reaped what she sown

Her casket I bought

And eulogy I wroteShe was such a nice lady

But I’d hate to say this…

From ashes to ashes

And dust to dustI pray that God took her soul

Teen Age; People Change

She was thirteen years old

and knew the world will never be cold

Anita was how she was called

Badgyaal was how she was known

and then get-rich-quick was her ambition

to reach the throne

She started knowing the boys

as they would buy her lots and lots of

love toys

She was fourteen years old

and cared less for what she was told

and then she disobeyed the mother

and disrespected the father

as whatever she was told; she would

never bother

At fifteen years old

Anita was so bold

She dressed to impress

Being a Queen was so common; she

wanted to be an Empress

She succeeded left handed

and left hundreds

but then she cared less and covered more

Wherever she messed; she would lay low

She was sixteen years old

when her most precious asset was shesold

Mini mini money more

with the boys she never went slow

She was upto upgrading her game

and then she degraded her name

and people downgraded her with shame

Seventeen years old

The world she wanted she unfold

More champagne less pain

no pain more vain

no gain without pain

Her world was mysterious

she was no longer prosperous

All she had was spent on drugs

her once golden attires were now rags

All she wanted was money

and then her lifespan was naturally

recorded tiny

She was eighteen years old

spiritually her life she began to mould

Dear God; help me, save me: She prayed

an undercover lover, she no longer played

Cash and take, cash the cheque, she was

no longer laid

and then praise and worship was her

means to get paid

Nineteen years old

She found someone to cherish and to hold

Her life was no longer that lonely

as Christ was her one and only

and then her life she began to erect

Years later to parliament, Anita we elect

Stereotype

We are experiencing the evolution of

civilization

Citizens having visions and missions which

are just mere notions

And coz we got muscles, they force us to

 join the military

Yet none of their own work as a voluntary

They say that am highly controversial

Am just a Storitellah tryna making things

official

I heard the government was trying to sue

me

I’ve been here and there but they

couldn’t see me

We living in the last age of technology

And nobody got time to study Biology

Man killing man for the fun of it

And the graves are enough but they aint

feeling it

I dared the cops to shoot me in the head

But before they could realize they wereall down and dead

And then I sent an email to my president

The State House aint worth to be called

his resident

I heard the armed forces top secret

Killing innocent people and they aint

regret

Storitellah I talk less about once upon a

timeWhen I see those living their dreams

with less than a dime

F.U.C.K the financial bullshit ministry

We got less money coz they bury some in

the cemetery

They told us civil lies

And yet none of their own they civilize

Ever heard the government says ‘I love

 you all’

Whenever I fell my niggas stood up tall

This world aint my home and soon I’ll be

gone

Big up to my fans I’ll never walk alone

T hey say am biting more than this nigga

can chew

Got too many critics but the fans aint

few

And to make this crucial

I hate my president coz he got no

credentials

The Thirteenth Floor

And so after finishing her grade-four education

Her notion for a brighter future was no exception

She excelled in everything and her success was defined beyond words

Whenever she spotted the best, she moved towards

And her journey of a thousand miles began the day she bought the best designer stilettos

in town

As others were moving down River Road, she boarded a taxi and headed Uptown

A party was on and for sure she was not in a position to let her friends down

While she was shaking her body to the tune of the music on air

A gentleman approached her right there

Introduced himself and merely asked for a dance

She couldn’t resist such a rare chance

They danced together through the night until when darkness was screaming loud and clear

At that same venue, she indulged in a drinking spree, sipping anything that was so near

She got drunk and not only staggered mentally but also her mental capacity was also

deterred

And in the process, the man took advantage of her

Took her to his car

This was not only stylish but also proved of a lavish lifestyle

He drove into the dark and came to a sudden halt

The lady he previously addressed, he now shamelessly undress

And one thing for sure, he satisfied the urge of his manhood

After the act, he drove away, leaving the lady in the midst of darkness

Under the curious eyes of the public at hand

Her photos were taken, naked and nude

And posted in the social network

Wherever she went she was denied work

Everything of her turned upside down

And had nothing to call her own

Months later she was a lady in labour

Her once white reputation was now dark

To make it worse, her future was blank

And the result of her fruitless search for work was:

No sex no job

She could take it no more

She could no longer go slow

She cried until her tears ran dry

And to get herself out of this mess

She sorted for a solution to her problems

Up the THIRTEENTH FLOOR she went

Opened a window and stared at the dark side of the world

The dark side of her friends and family

And finally………down she fell………she was dead!!!

The Storyline…Continues

Mama told me that life is highly fatal

Got too many visions when I was growing in the ghetto

Pull a trigger kill a nigga then became my motto

Before I read the papers, the cops had my photo

The least I could imagine is to see mama crying

Whenever she was down, I raised her to the ceiling

But now that am gone, her life is just a lie

I loved mama so much so Alhamdulillah

Back in the hoods when I was spitting my lines

Salute to my haters, they all made me fine

Don’t ever exploit a hooker coz your sis aint a hooker

And the best I can say she’s hotter than a cooker

They called her a whore

And I started the war

But to say the truth, she committed no crime

I pledge my loyalty to God and that’s the end of my rhyme

Shhh ...Silence

And then the boy said “One day your beauty will vanish”

You think you can use me and treat me like rubbish

I remember you said my future you’ll garnish

Now am living in confusion and seclusion coz my life you’ve refused to furnish

And yes, my hopes you tarnish

But before I came to realize that you were highly selfish

I blamed myself for being so foolish

By then my love for you was lavish

But at this very moment, their nothing to cherish

For sure after granting my wish

You gave me a dish of fish

And for your desires, your wish was for me to nourish

With your petty appetite, you flourish

Your hairstyle; TURKISH

Skin colour; SPANISH

And accent; BRITISH

You abused me, misused me, reduced me and used me as fetish

And then you say my love need some polish

It was all insanity and mere vanity when my sanity you punish

Breaking my virginity and distorting my passion of heading the parish

Months later you prove of highly manish

And you left me too blemish

But to say the truth, you are no longer stylish

The foundation of love you erected upon my heart I now demolish

The Rebel Poetry

Let us demotivate their conscious as they motivate us with unconsciousness

If it aint political then it is mundane tribal;

a definite epitome of infinite trouble

They double our troubles engaging us in between the blasts

of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

downgrading our highly graded potentials into the pits

of unnatural degradation

Yes the scene 1 of governance is dull and null

with well constructed phrases put together for the benefits

of all those who can fit

Rebellion is rising with another uprising

of those with missions and ambitions of rising

The situation is tense and dense

hence our exit is closer than the entrance!

Note: This

 is

 a collection

 of

 poems

 I  wrote

  when

 I  was

 still

 in

 high

school (2009 ‐ 2012). Some are really  interesting and highly  captivating

while some are  just poems I  wrote simply  because I had to  write. Each

and every  poem talks of  a particular that maybe or maybe not reflect  what’s happening in our co‐current contemporary  society.  And in  your desire to know and explore my   world from a poetic angle of  elevation, I have presented to  you ‘THE  AFTERMATH SERIES’  which is a poetic

collage from my   very  own mind. I hope  you enjoyed  your reading.
