Howdy folks! Welcome to the 23rd Annual Transcon’s Advantage bull sale. The quality and reputation of this sale speaks for itself. Two of the consignors combined are almost pushing 50 consecutive years consigning to this sale. Last year’s top selling bull fetched $20,000!! With a handful being in the mid teens! Let’s face it; most of the bulls will sell between $4000 to $8000. This proves the quality of bulls. There are some bulls purebred breeders will purchase, but mostly good honest bulls that will go out and produce for that top quality commercial cattleman.

We have invited Aumack Simmentals into this year’s sale. On behalf of the consignors and Transcon I would like to welcome them into the sale. I believe both the bulls and the people will fit right into the Advantage group. Have you semen tested your bulls yet? It’s been a long hard winter and we at Transcon have noticed this winter’s weather has been particularly hard on bulls passing semen tests. All the bulls at this sale have been tested!! Don’t be one of those poor souls that find out you have a dud bull after the first cow heat has passed and they are still open. That costs way too much money!! Not to mention top bulls are almost impossible to find that time of year.

An “advantage” to you, the buyer, is that we have Simmental, Angus and Charolais Bulls all in the same sale! That’s not all; we have yearlings, and if you’re looking to cover some more cows we also have two year old bulls for sale.

Welcome to the Double G Simmental portion of the Transcon Advantage Sale 2018. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones on March 31.

Despite weather challenges in parts of Saskatchewan this year, the cattle industry remains relatively stable and at a level that is profitable for producers. We are pleased with the way our bulls performed on extremely dry pastures with no creep feed and they have continued to develop well since weaning. We have again assembled an offering that includes a good combination of good performance bulls and beefy calving ease bulls on both the red factor purebred and he Fleckvieh fullbloods. We are again consign-ing a couple of two year olds that were too young to sell as yearlings. In addition, for the first in our history, we are bringing two black purebreds and they are absolutely top quality.

This might be the most powerful of our red factor group. We didn’t get many bull calves from McIntosh Arsenal 55C but if the ones in the sale are any indication we can look forward to many years of bringing top quality sons to this sale. GGS 33E has been a favorite of many visitors to the bull pen for his length, depth and width. He has tons of hair, a good disposition and is very correct. Westgold Standout 42Z is the elite Fullblood herd sire who has worked so well for Red Willow Ranch, raising many top herd bulls selling through their own bull sale. To quote Darren and Josh Tyler, “42Z continues to impress us with his pigment, hair coat, length of spine, scrotal development, performance and just overall consistency he produces in his calves”.

We just can’t say enough about Ms. Rusty 68N. She is 15 years old and still has a youthful look which speaks for her longevity. She has very sound feet with a large hoof, front and back, which have always been trouble free. She has a moderate size udder and teats that have held up extremely well and free of problems. Her greatest accomplishment was raising BAR KR Avalanche 52Z who is working so well in the Maxwell Simmental program. With her track record for raising top herd bulls we decided to move her into our flush program as a donor.

Duke is a two year old out of our Maltese bull and a Rusty cow with great longevity, raising her last calf this year at 14 years of age. Rusty females made a huge mark in our program over the years. Welcome to the 23rd Advantage Sale

Doesn’t seem that long since I wrote last year’s introduction but a lot of things have changed in a year, with the biggest being that Bryce, Janine, Mckennah and Jaden moved a house to the farm. It’s been 41 years since a school bus came to the yard.

On the bull side we are bringing the most to town we have ever brought with 24 Simmentals, 16 Red Angus and 4 Black Angus.

The Simmentals are led by a strong group of MRL Missile calves who by the end of bull season everyone will know who this exciting new herdsire is. Our MRL Chicago and MAF Battalion herdsires are well represented along with Mader Gangster, Cobra and Poker Face all having sons in the offering. Whether you want Black, Black Blaze, Red or Red Blaze we have something for everyone, even a couple of Fullbloods.

The Red Angus are well led off by Ambush and Cole, our two walking herdsires, that will give calving ease and power. The bulls are uniform to the sire groups and are two completely different types. Have a good look at them as we are very happy with the job both of these sires are doing for us.The Black Angus division is small but very powerful being led by two Kodiak 5R sons that are pretty hard to fault.

The best way I can describe 42E is a smooth, stylish bull in a blaze faced package. 42E’s black blaze faced dam “Cynthia” was purchased as a mature cow from Transcon’s Red and Black Sale in 2014. 42E is exactly what we hoped for when we purchased “Cynthia”. I think he has potential to sire some fancy calves in the future.

Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP.
