indicate fatigue, and warns the driver; DISTRONIC PLUS1 warns

of potential collision by sending an audible alert. Should the driver

fail to respond, PRE-SAFE® Brake1 engages automatic braking to

minimize the risk of impact. Standard COLLISION PREVENTION

ASSIST with Adaptive Brake Assist ensures that the correct

BlueTEC 4MATIC™, whose diesel engine – combined with the ECO Start/Stop function –

delivers excellent fuel economy with minimal emissions. Or the GL 450 4MATIC™, with its

mighty 3.0L Bi-turbo V6 engine which boasts 362 hp – or 429 hp on the GL 550 4MATIC™.

Together with the smooth or sporty gear shifting afforded by the standard 7G-TRONIC PLUS

Transmission, the GL-Class is where forward thinking meets forward moving.

The GL 63 AMG sports an even more powerful hand-built AMG 5.5L Bi-turbo V8 engine

with 550 hp. High tech innovation – like direct injection, twin turbochargers, and air to

water intercooling – means performance and effi ciency like never before. The GL 63’s AMG

SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission features three drive modes – “C” (Controlled

Effi ciency), “S” (Sport), and “M” (Manual), controlled by steering wheel-mounted gearshift

paddles. Self-levelling AMG sports suspension keeps the ride height constant (and smooth)

at all times. Working in tandem with AIRMATIC to optimize ride quality, the Adaptive

Damping System4 allows a choice between Comfort and Sport suspension settings at the

touch of a button. (‘Sport’ fi rming up the suspension for sporty drivers.) Taken together,

these make the GL 63 AMG a dynamic performer that delivers greater handling safety – not

to mention a pure adrenalin rush.
