description

In March of 1964, Ford Motor Company compiled a list of parts and created the first ever Ford Mustang. Members of Ford had a vision of creating a light weight, economical car that would seat four people yet still be sporty. With the creation of the new “Pony Cars”, they did just that. This all new Ford Mustang was made for everyone with the option to essentially be designed by the buyer based on the parts they wanted. To keep costs low, Ford chose to design the Mustang using many parts from the existing Ford Falcon. Production of the First Mustang ran from March through July of 1964, resulting in 121,538 Mustangs being sold.
