The 1920’s were a decade of new beginnings, change, and jazz. Many exciting things were happening in the 1920’s. I hope you will find the 1920’s interesting just as interesting as I.

Style of WomenThe 1920’s had a style of it’s own.

The ladies were wearing longer skirts that some were uneven at the bottom.By 1925 though, the short skirt was back to stay. Most dresses had little or no shape. These years were called the Flapper Age.

Styles of men included wide bottom trousers,white linen in the summer, or a raccoon coat in the winter. And of course there was the slouch hat. This hat could be rolled up and put in a suit case.

The presidents of this great decade were Woodrow Wilson, President Warren G. Harding, President Calvin Coolidge, and President Herbert Hoover.

As in the previous decade women fought in protests for the right to vote. This was called the Women’s Suffrage Movement. It just happens that in 1920 women won their right to vote.

The 1920’s was really happening. We had Silent Screen stars Rudolph Valentino, and Clara Bow. How could I forget Rudy Vallee who sang from a megaphone. A famous Talkie star was John Barrymore.

Music in the 1920’s included jazz and blues. There was songs about everything. Waltzes, sentimental pop ballads, songs about traveling, and in every decade there are a few nonsense songs.

1920’s had dance marathons where couples danced until there was no one standing. They took ten minute breaks every hour to prevent dehydration.

Technology was important these days and still is. Back then we had radios and Henry Ford’s Model T.

Henry had a dream of making a car or automobile. This dream later came true in 1908 when the Ford Motor Company Built the Model T. This new car sold for $850.00. With this price only wealthy people could own cars.

Conclusion

Unfortunately the 1920’s ended with a stock market crash on October 28th. The Flapper Age, the Jazz Age, the Roaring Twenties whatever you want to call it this decade was a good one.
