More than half of exhibitors have sent more than 5 staff to participate, among which, 35.69% of exhibitors have sent 5~10 staff, and 16.83% of exhibitors have sent more than 10 staff. It is found that the industries of the exhibitors cover a broad range. Relatively speaking, they mostly work on IT (including communications, Internet of things, large data, cloud computing, etc.) (21.22%), and the advanced manufacturing and high-end equipment ranks the second (17.16%). The successive industries include energy conservat ion and environment protect ion and new materials (14.42%), electronic information (12.08%), as well as biological medicine and medical equipment (11.78%) and so on.

(1) Participating purposesThe three main purposes for the exhibitors to participate in the CHTF 2017 are as follows: to promote their products or projects (66.90%), to promote brands and images (58.38%), and to explore partners (47.44%).

It is found that exhibitors mainly know exhibit ion information through three channels: the invitation from the host (45.85%), the invitation from associations (25.18%), and the official website of the Fair (24.67%%). The specific information is shown as follows:

Overview of the FairRegarded as China’s No.1 Science and Technology Show,

China Hi-Tech Fair (hereafter called “the CHTF”) is the largest

and most influential science and technology exhibition in China

at present. It is held in Shenzhen annually and has been

successfully held for nineteen years. The Fair is jointly held by

China’s Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and

Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology,

National Development and Reform Commission, State

Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences,

Chinese Academy of Engineering and Shenzhen Municipal

People's Government.

The CHTF 2017 covers national high-tech, innovation and

scientific research, international pavilions, “Belt and Road” Area,

start-up enterprises, makers, high-tech services, IT, energy

conservation and environmental protection, new energy, green

buildings, new materials, intelligent medical treatment and

health, electro-optic display, smart cities, aerospace, advanced

manufacturing, military and civilian integration, sensor

technology and application, as well as the high-tech technical

talents and intelligent exchanges. It covers a total area of

120,000 square meters with group participants from 38

provinces and municipalities in China, 27 well-known colleges

and universities, 49 foreign groups from 46 countries including

the EU, among of which there are 27 “the Belt and Road”

countries. There are 3,049 exhibitors showing 10,020 high-tech

projects covering fields like Internet of Things, intelligent

manufacturing, AI, energy conservation and environment

protection, AR/VR, Internet , big data, unmanned systems,

smart cities, aerospace, new energy, new materials, photoelec-

tric flat, and modern agriculture. There are 592,000 visitors from

102 countries and regions. The visitor index of professional

audiences reaches 242, which means every pavilion averagely

received 242 professional audiences every day.

In CHTF 2017, there are more than 252 forum conferences,

1704 new products and 539 new technologies, accounting for

22.4% of the total items, are shown for the first time. New

products and new technologies launches have been held by 63

enterprises. CHTF 2017 has been covered by many media at

home and overseas including CCTV, the Xinhua News Agency,

the People’s Daily, and Nikkei.

(1) Regional distribution of exhibitors

In terms of the regional distribution of exhibitors, 80% are domest ic exhib i tors , among which, exhib i tors f rom Shenzhen account for the largest proportion of 56.22%. The foreign exhibitors accounts for 15.96%, including 9.44% are exhibitors from Asia (excluding China).

The CHTF 2017 is highly valued by exhibitors. More than half of exhibitors have sent more than 5 staff to participate, among which, 35.69% of exhibitors have sent 5~10 staff, and 16.83% of exhibitors have sent more than 10 staff.

Among those staff, senior staff and middle-level manag-ements account for nearly forty percent——37.41% exactly.

The positions of these staff cover enterprise management, brand management, purchasing, human resource, product development, and salesman etc. The position of salesman accounts for the highest proportion, 23.64%.

Robert:I come from Africa, and have participated in the Fair for several times. I mainly want to obtain more technological information, which is helpful to acquire some B2B information and some high-level information about my products. This helps me a lot. I have signed some contracts with Alibaba a n d c o m p a n i e s f r o m international trade market.

Adam Howard:I come f rom the UK, and I participate in this Fair for the first time for exploring partners. Shenzhen is an open-minded city, with people here are of high zeal for entrepreneurship. I have much interest about how Shenzhen get s people cooperate c lose ly and achieve win-win results.

Victor: I come from Russia, and this is the first time that I participate in the Fair. I come here for new technologies and products, and want to know some information, which i s related to one of my business on December.

It is found that the following five ways are the main channels for professional visitors to get the information: invitation from the host (28.35%), the official website of the Fair ( 2 5 . 0 7 % ) , i n v i t a t i o n f r o m e x h i b i t o r s ( 2 3 . 6 5 % ) , recommendation from friends (20.51%), and newspaper and periodical (18.80%). The CHTF 2017attracts 592,000 visitors from 102 countries and regions, among which, the visitor index of professional audience reaches 242, which means every pavilion averagely received 242 professional audiences every day.

The purchaser index reaches 63, which means every pavilion averagely received 63 purchasers who have purchasing intention or make deals order.

In terms of the regional distribution of professional visitors, 87.70% are domestic visitors, among which, visitors from Shenzhen account for the largest proportion at 48.32%. The foreign professional visitors accounts for 12.30%, including 3.57% professional visitors from North America.

The foreign professional visitors are mainly from America, Belgium, India, Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Greece, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Syria, Ukraine, Kenya, Iran, Tanzania, and Senegal.
