Since the kids have already headed back to school, it is time to break out those winter tools! We have had several successful annual events this year, includ- ing the Golf Tournament, Shrimp Feast, and the Camp David Chapter Picnic. The Association also recognized the White House Communications Agency’s All Stars during the Agency’s Annual Award Ceremony, and supported the Wound- ed Warriors & Fisher House programs. Now it’s time to close out the year with our final event: the Annual Holiday Dinner Dance. On September 6, 2014, many association members and their families attended the 23rd Annual Camp David Chapter Annual Picnic, held at the home of Warren and Carol Suker in Cascade, MD. Please see page 5 for photos and a recap of another great event. The 1600 Communications Association Board of Directors held a luncheon September 2, 2014 at the Joint Base Anacostia - Bolling Club, Washington, DC. The primary focus of the luncheon was to reconnect, strengthen the As- sociation, and to set goals for the future. The luncheon provided a forum for dialogue, with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of the functions of the Association. Invitees were current and former WHCA Commanders, current and former WHCA Command Sergeants Major, former 1600 Association Presidents, and Association Event Chair-Persons. Those not able to attend expressed their regrets and encouraged the continuation of these luncheons. It’s not too early to start getting your applications submitted for the 1600 As- sociation Scholarship Program for 2015. All applications must be postmarked no later than May 31, 2015, but getting your application in early is encouraged. Last year, we awarded $8,000 among three winners. Additional information appears on Page 2 of this newsletter. On behalf of the 1600 Communications Association, I would like to invite you to our 46th Annual Holiday Dinner Dance. The Dinner Dance is always a very special occasion and a wonderful opportunity to see old friends, as well as to make new ones. Many Association members look forward to this event to cel- ebrate their accomplishments and close out the year with former and current members of WHCA. The Dinner Dance will be held on December 6, 2014 at the Spates Community Club, located at 214 McNair Road (Bldg. 407) Fort Myer, Virginia 22211. The evening will begin with cocktails at 6:30pm followed by dinner, the official pro- gram, and dancing into the night. The invitation is included in this newsletter. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
