  • May 20, 2016 Welcome back, my friends, to the 15th Annual Robert F. Novins Memorial Golf Tournament & Reception being held again this year at Carsons Tavern and Stuart Yacht & Country Club in lovely Stuart, Florida. The proceeds from this event will benefit the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Stuart, so I ask you to please contribute in whatever way you can. Every little bit helps. Whether here volunteering your time, making a monetary or gift donation, attending the evening reception or coming out to enjoy a day of golf, your efforts are greatly appreciated and will benefit many medically indigent residents of our area. Although we are not too serious about the level of play, we are extremely serious about the benefits this tournament confers upon our community. Today, I ask that you embrace the spirit of my dad. Play your best, keep up with the pace and observe proper etiquette, but most importantly enjoy the day! Enjoy being outside, enjoy conversation with old friends and enjoy meeting new ones. As always, you have my sincere appreciation. Carson Novins PS: Please come and enjoy the Preakness Stakes, Helicopter Ball Drop and Award Ceremony immediately following the golf.

  • The proceeds from this tournament will benefit Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Stuart. Since 1995, the VIM Clinic has been treating medically indigent adult residents of Martin County who have no access to health care and are without government assistance. These residents have income under 200 percent of the federal poverty level which is equivalent to $23,760 for a single person, $32,040 for a family of two, or $40,320 for families of three. The funds raised at this event will pay for primary and specialty care for patients who qualify. The volunteer medical professionals encompass a wide array of specialties that include allergy, dermatology, family practice, internal medicine, gastroenterology, gynecology, mental health, opthal- mology, optometry, orthopedic, otolaryngology, podiatry, urology, and more. With the help of generous volunteers and supporters, VIM Clinic is able to care for almost 1,000 adult residents at any given time, with an average of 50 patient visits a day. While VIM Clinic does not charge for its services, it is not a walk-in clinic. Patients must pre-qualify by showing proof of income, legal residency and lack of any other health care prospects. In essence, VIM Clinic is Martin health care safety net, where the medically indigent are treated with care, compassion and dignity. At VIM Clinic, volunteers are able to practice the art of medicine, not the business of health care. 98 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to patient care. This is possible because of the generosity of the entire community from Martin Health System and Diagnostic Imaging Services which absorbs over 4 million dollars a year in diagnostic and laboratory services, its volunteers and to individuals like yourselves who donate each year. Thanks to supporters and donors like YOU, VIM Clinic is able to provide quality medical care to these without access to healthcare right here in Martin County.
