What do they celebrate?

• Historically, Thanksgiving is the tradition of the Native Americans showing thanks for their their harvests harvests by singing, dancing and praying.

• When the Pilgrims arrive in North America in 1620, their first winter is very difficult and many of them die from starvation and disease. The next year, a group of Native Americans teach the Pilgrims to grow corn, how to collect berries, and how to fish and hunt.

• The next year in 1621, the Pilgrims have a very successful harvest. They are very thankful, so they have a large feast and celebrate for three days. They invite the Natives to their celebration.

What do they celebrate?

• The customscustoms remind the people of:–ancient celebrations of harvest,– thankfulness for peace,– the native Americans.

• Everyone follows the custom of family dinner and religious reunion every year.

• Feasts are usually held at home.• It is a time to enjoy their favourite 'Roast

Turkey' with the family.

with traditional dishes such as turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce and of course, the traditional pumpkin pie for dessert

• Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends. It is a day to stop working and to give thanks for one’s life, health, family, food, and freedom.

What is “ Black Friday”?

"Black Friday" is the term for the phenomenon that takes place in the U.S. on the day after Thanksgiving Thursday.

Millions of consumers who get the day off from work or school crowd into stores and buy lots of things.
