English settlers crossed the Atlantic to discover the New World.

The pilgrims were installed in the colony of Plymouth Rock. The Indians helped them and they learned to plant corn, hunt and fish.

In 1621 the settlers organized a feast: The America's First Thanksgiving. The Indians brought deer meat to be roasted and turkeys.

Thanksgiving can, however, be traced back to 1863. Lincoln became the first president to proclaim Thanksgiving Day.

In the thanksgiving day the family have dinner together.

The typical dishes are the roast turkey and pumpkin pie
