This weekend is World Mission Sunday. Jesus has instructed us in Matthew 28:19 to “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit”. This is called the Great Commission since Jesus desires us to be a Missionary Church that spreads the Gospel to all. It is good for us to reflect on how much each day we share the Gospel with others. Often we spend a lot of time sharing about a movie, book, sport, game, clothing, etc. When was the last time you invited someone to church or spoke to someone about Christ? Do you spend time on a regular basis talking to family, friends and coworkers about Christ? If not then reflect on where your hesitancy to do so comes from. Part of building a culture of life is helping people remember that we want to go to heaven and have eternal life. The following are quotes on Mission from Pope Francis and the United States Council of Catholic Bishops. “Once again this year, World Mission Day gathers us around the person of Jesus, ‘the very first and greatest evangelizer’ (Paul VI, Evangelii Nuntiandi, 7), who continually sends us forth to proclaim the Gospel of the love of God the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit. This Day invites us to reflect anew on the mission at the heart of the Christian faith. The Church is missionary by na-ture; otherwise, she would no longer be the Church of Christ, but one group among many others that soon end up serving their purpose and passing away. So it is important to ask ourselves certain questions about our Christian identity and our responsibility as believers in a world marked by confusion, disappointment and frustration, and torn by numerous fratricidal wars that unjustly target the innocent. What is the basis of our mission? What is the heart of our mission? What are the essential approaches we need to take in carrying out our mission?” -Pope Francis, Message for World Mission Day 2017. "Jesus was a missionary. As the Word of God, he is the light of all nations. As the Word made flesh, he brought God's own life into our midst. Before returning to the Father, he sent the Church to continue the mission given him by the Father and empowered her with his Spirit: “As the Father has sent me, so I send you" (Jn 20:21).” -Except from To the Ends of the Earth: A Pastoral Statement on World Mission. "The Church, therefore, is missionary by her very nature. She continues the mission of the Son and the mission of the Holy Spirit by proclaiming to the ends of the earth the salvation Christ offers those who believe in him. We are faithful to the nature of the Church to the degree that we love and sincerely promote her missionary activity. As teachers and pastors we are responsible for keeping alive a vibrant Catholic missionary spirit in the United States." -Except from To the Ends of the Earth: A Pastoral Statement on World Mission. May we always be a Missionary Church, Fr. Charlie

Celebrating the conclusion of 9 months of prayer! Our Spiritual Adoption program concluded with a baby shower for St. Martin de Porres' Gabriel Project and the Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generous heart! The donated items will touch lives as young families find support from their community. Diapers and gift cards were donated to reach out to families who may be experiencing difficulties with a pregnancy or caring for their infants. The Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center, located just across the street from DSHS offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, consultation, and a prayer for young families. Spread the word that no one should feel alone. There is material, education, and spiritual support available in our community. God bless you!

Show up and HE will do the work! A young woman drove up to Planned Parenthood and went into the facility on October 3rd. An hour later she left. As her taxicab driver drove down PP's driveway, she rolled down her window and told the 40

Days for Life volunteer that she had changed her mind. She was keeping her baby because of "that man praying for me" and she pointed to one of the prayer volunteers. Presence and prayer, they work! Let your light shine before men...Matthew 5:16. To get involved, go to http://centraltexascoalition.com/.
