Thank You! "Young people think of nothing butthemselves." -Peter the Hermit
"They have bad manners, contempt forauthority; they show disrespect to theirelders..." -Socrates
Youth is wasted on the young."-attributed to George Bernard Shaw
None of these complaints about youngpeople would ever have been written had theauthors known the members of theEpiscopal Youth of Central PA. Thisdynamic group of teens and their adultadvisers spent a weekend camping at St.Andrews's (Shippensburg). Theyvolunteered their time, talents, and energy, completing much-needed work at theEpiscopal Home, and interacting with ourresidents. Passionate about extending ahelping hand, selfless and enthusiastic, theypainted, cleaned, organized, weeded, andentertained.
The teens cited "a warm welcome," "smilingfaces," "feeling at home," and "hospitality,"as high points of their visit. The kitchen staffraved about what a wonderful group theywere, and that they were "so friendly andhelpful." EH administrator, Mary GraceShearer, summed up the experience as"wonderful for both residents and youth."
Thanks to everyone involved for providing anintergenerational opportunity for us to cometogether for a time of fun, friendship, andfellowship.
