Thank You and Happy Holidays!
It's hard to believe that it has been two years since I became your president
and now my two-year term is drawing to a close. We could not be more
fortunate to have Peggy Foy stepping up and into the role and our
tremendous board that will keep the events and opportunities coming! I am
so thankful for the wonderful time I have had as your president, getting to
know so many of you and serving our community. Thank you for your support
and enthusiasm. This is a stellar group of people, personalities and talent and
the generosity and camaraderie you share with each other is truly inspiring. I
hope you feel that we have added value over the last two years and I
encourage you to speak up and get involved if there are other things or more
things you would like to be a part of our offerings! So THANK YOU! It has
been a true pleasure to serve you!
If you love the events and opportunities we offer, please consider becoming a
volunteer! We have both short and long term positions available listed below.
This is your opportunity to help make the Guild the way you want it. To make
sure your segment of our community is represented and, of course, to serve
your fellow metalsmiths and give back to the community. All GOOD things!
We are looking forward to seeing you Sunday evening for our annual SMG
Ornament Exchange Holiday Party! Please RSVP here for the address:

Lecture Series #1: Keith Lewis - Coalescence: Assisting the Angel of History
Thursday, January 14, 2016
SPU: Otto Miller Hall, Room 109
The talk will emphasize the richness of a cross-disciplinary approach in the production of creative work and will attempt to serve, by
example, as a kind of rallying cry: an attempt to encourage jewelers to think big and to challenge themselves emotionally, intellectually
and technically. In other words, to act like jewelry matters.

Salon de la Bijouterie - Eastside
Monday, January 25, 2016 7:00pm - 10:00pm
What are the Salons? They are monthly opportunities for members to get together, show and discuss their work, receive feedback if they
desire, and build a support network for their ongoing practice. The Metal Mixers fill a great need to get together and discuss all manner of
things and not feel so isolated in our studios. The Salons will take this one step further, helping us build a stronger community and
address the challenges and celebrate the triumphs we experience as artists. It's really an opportunity to lift each other up and I think
that's what the Guild is all about!
So please bring your work and some yummy food to share - we will provide the wino and non-alcoholic refreshments!
