Thalassemia is a genetic disorder which has a gene frequency in Pakistan of appox. 8% (i.e. in certain pockets of population out of every 100 person 5-8 will be carrying the defective gene). In Mianwali (operational area), we have reached out to 145 thallasemic and the number is increasing.
