Dear parishioners and friends: Welcome to October Happy October! The Fall Season is upon us and we plan to have a busy October here at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. October is Respect Life Month, so look for special devotions at our Respect Life Table in our Churches this month as we pray for the protection of life at every stage. Next Sunday (October 8th) we will bless your family pets on the St. Luke Church campus at 2:00 p.m. (This is in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4th). On October 12th we honor our patroness, Our Lady of Guadalupe and on the 13th, we will offer rosaries and prayers in honor of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. The following Sunday (October 15th) is our parish social, The Tastes and Sounds of Philly. I know this will be a fun time so please plan to attend and invite your family and friends. October 18th is the Feast of St. Luke and we will celebrate a special Mass at 7:00 p.m. at St. Luke Church, followed by a light reception. Bishop Sullivan will join us for the 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Luke on Sunday October 22nd to celebrate The White Mass, a Diocesan Mass to pray for health care professionals in our parish and throughout the diocese. (St. Luke is the patron saint of doctors and health care professionals). Also in October, we begin The Journey / El Camino, our parish spiritual program to help you to deepen your personal relationship with Christ. If you have not signed up please do so this weekend at Mass or in the parish office. The month will conclude with our annual Trunk or Treat Halloween celebration at the St. JP II School, which is always an evening of family fun. I probably missed some services and events, so please stay tuned via our new parish website and Facebook page. I wish you a Happy and Faith Filled October. God Bless you and your family, Father Vince
Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Vicente
