Week 7 – 13 th June 2018 Sharing Our News We trust everyone had a great long weekend and spent quality time with family and friends. Sixteen of our most creative Year 6 students will be taking part in one of the biggest musical productions within the Hunter - Starstruck. Our students have been rehearsing for a number of weeks and are looking forward to the amazing experience. Rehearsals for the production started today with a matinee performance on Friday to many of our local schools. Opening night is on Friday evening with a matinee on Saturday and a night performance on Saturday evening. Tickets are still available via Ticketek. 'Break a leg!' This weeks PBL topic is 'Accepting No'. Our school staff will be discussing different strategies for students to accept the word and ways of dealing with possible disappointment. There are often reasons for teachers or adults to say 'No'. These reasons can be due to safety restraints, curriculum, time management as well as just respecting an adultsdecision. This topic can also be used at home in different situations. If you could take the time to discuss this topic with your child/ren it would be much appreciated. We are taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2019. If you have a son or daughter or know of a friend in our zoned area that would be attending our school in 2019, please send them a friendly reminder to place their child's name down at the front office or ring the school for more information. Our Kindergarten Information evening will be on Wednesday 22nd August and our Kindergarten Transition Program will commence on Thursday 6th September. We look forward to meeting our new students for 2019. Our teachers are at present writing Semester 2 reports. These reports are based on studentsassessments throughout the first half of the year. Parents will receive these reports on Wednesday 4th July. If you have any questions re your child's report, I encourage you to book an appointment with your class teacher to discuss future goals for your child. The Life Education Van provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to take part in age appropriate life lessons such as healthy eating, personal safety, cyber safety and peer pressure. An outline of the lessons covered is further in this newsletter.

The cost of the Life Education Van this year remains at $10 per student. We would like to thank CLUB SINGLETON who have helped to subsidise our visit. Please return the permission slip in this newslstter with payment before Tuesday, 24th July.

Public Speaking

All students at KSPS are given the opportunity to take part in our Public Speaking Competitions. This is a fabulous opportunity for students to be able to stand before their peers in a safe, comfortable environment. Two students from each stage will be selected to represent our school at the Zone Public Speaking Competition on 31st July and 1st August.
