Viswanathan, Founder and Chancellor, a visionary who transformed VIT into a centre of excellence in higher technical education. VIT Chennai is presently spearheaded by Mr. G.V. Selvam, Vice -President.

- The School of Advanced Sciences (SAS) comprises of four major divisions namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Social Sciences & Languages. The Division of Physics at VIT Chennai nurtures inquisitive nature of students in various fields of Physical Sciences and Applied Physics with state of the art facilities. The faculty are engaged in active research in frontier areas.

- Chennai is well connected by roadways, airways, railways to all states. The closest international airport is Chennai International Airport. Chennai is hub of southern railways which has three major stations named as MGR Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore and Tambaram.
