Dear Parents,
I wanted to start my newsletter this week by thanking my staff that work here at school. For some reason this term has
been particularly busy, yet every day it is a joy to come to work and hear how all staff are willing to muck in and always go
above what is asked of them. Reports have all gone home and these detailed accounts of every child’s progress and
attainment have been professionally, personally and thoughtfully written. Please do return pupil and parent comments
asap.
This week as part of continued professional development, our support staff, TAs, have been working together to share
practice which has been so beneficial to all. Mrs Muir, who is Deputy Designated Safe guard Lead, has attended further
Safeguard training. She has also been busy contacting organisations to visit during Science Week. Miss Sides has
attended the Religious Education Cluster meeting with other Warminster Schools, alongside our RE Governor, Mrs Speller.
As our English lead and Year 6 teacher, Mrs Rayner has organised our Book Day activities – please do see last week’s
photos as well as attending a meeting at Kingdown School. Miss Porch is organising a huge amount in preparation for the
Science Week, as well as dealing with a broken car! I have been on two courses this week, Valuing God’s Children and a
Head Teacher’s Conference so I have also been out of school so reliant on staff to lead Worships and sort any issues that
arise… thanks to Mrs Bawden in the office who has been at the heart of this! Miss Porch, Mrs Rayner and Miss Sides also
continue to support our PGCE students, who have also been an asset to our school since arriving. Unfortunately, Mr
Margetson will not be with us in Weavers, but may be back in the future.
I hope you can all take a moment, in your own very busy lives, to appreciate our adults.
As for our children, they have continued to work hard and we are all very proud of them.
Some children in Year 5 and 6 visited the Longbridge Deveril Care Home and Mrs A was in awe of how you behave and
react while visiting these residents. What an amazing example you set! Thank you too to the parents who are able to help
transport children as we could not do it without you.
Our netballers were also amazing this week. We came 4th in the competition only losing 2-0 to the eventual winners
Minster, 3-0 to Sutton Veny who were second and Avenue 2-1 who were third. Safe to say, unofficially first in the Small
Schools!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to Red Nose Day – if you have not contributed yet please do pop a donation into
our Compassion Box, however small, asap.
Please enjoy your weekend.
Mrs Ilic
Staff Car Park & side lane – Could we please remind parents NOT to park in the staff car park &
side lane under any circumstances, at any time, as we need to have emergency access.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
The Friends of Crockerton School – We are currently looking for someone to join the committee as either a
Vice Chair or joint Secretary, no experience needed! If we are unable to appoint an extra person to the
committee we will be breaching the Charity Commission rules and we may need to close the Friends down.
Please let the school office know if you are able to help out in any way.
Lost property – As always any lost property that is named will be returned to the owner. If lost property is
not named or claimed by the end of each half term, it will be disposed of.
Dear Parents,
Plans are underway for our school Science Week. It has been rescheduled for the week beginning Monday 24th June
to Friday 28th June 2019. Last year we had some wonderful visits from parents sharing how Science is part of
their occupation. This really inspired the children. This year we would like to do the same.
If you have an occupation or hobby which involves Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths and would be available
to come in please get in touch.
Kindest regards
Miss Porch (Science Coordinator)

Happy Birthday!
Red Nose Day – Thank you to everyone who donated, you raised a very impressive £107.00!
This April I am pulling on my cycling Lycra for charity and stepping out of my comfort zone, by taking on an epic cycling challenge.
Myself, with five good hockey-playing friends, (named The Chicks with Sticks) are stepping off the hockey pitch and picking up our bicycles to raise money
for the new Cancer Centre at the RHU, part of the Forever Friends Appeal. Our aim is to raise £6,000 by challenging ourselves on two wheels, riding the
width of the UK, from St David’s in Pembrokeshire, to Lowestoft in Suffolk. We are aiming to complete this 420 mile cycle over the course of 8 days, setting
off on the 4th April.
As a group of working mothers, on the other side of 40, we all have our fair share of day-to-day challenges. However, none is as big as the cancer battle
one of our six is currently facing. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2016, Sally was treated at the RUH and has nothing but praise for the
treatment, care and support she received, Sally successfully fought this disease with the most amazing courage and a great sense of humour. Despite this, it
has returned and she once again turns to the RUH to help.
The RUH are creating what they believe will be the best cancer centre for a district general hospital in the UK and it would be a great privilege to support to
this cause. Why have we chosen cycling? None of us are cyclists, with one of us having barely ridden a bike for 25 years! However, we wanted a challenge,
something that we would have to work really hard at. This West to East cycle challenge was something that we felt would be tough, but one we could
achieve. We were inspired by the Four Mums in a Boat, four amazing women who showed that with determination, planning and team work, you really can
achieve anything.
If anyone would like to sponsor us!
