We can help you get started at the Open House or simply go online to see all our deserving dogs. During our Holiday Open House you’re invited to come meet your dog! Meet Ashlee! Ashlee, like all three month old puppies, is brimming full of life. As curious as they come, her spirit is vibrant! Once you’re captured by her delightful demeanor and adorable brown eyes, you will realize that something is different about Ashlee. Ashlee was born without her left radius, one of two bones found in the forearm and has birth defects in both of the joints below her shoulder. Even with these obstacles, Ashlee is still a ray of light. After she was dropped off at a local shelter, she was taken in by Mackenzie’s and immediately set up for a consult with an Orthopedic Specialist-- the diagnosis was amputation of the limb. Give the gift of happiness to Ashlee by Sponsoring her through this life changing transformation. And blessings to all our special Sanctuary animals and Sanctuary friends this Holiday season! We are excited to invite you and your family to the Sanctuary for our Holiday Open House and Wish List Drive! This heartfelt gathering will include tours of the Sanctuary, interaction with our adoptable dogs, Christmas cookies and refreshments, holiday music, kid’s arts and crafts and pictures with Santa! You can also help directly benefit the dogs in need at MAS by bringing with you an item(s) off their doggie Holiday Wish List! (look inside for details) Unable to attend but still want to help? Stop by Chow Hound this Holiday season all December long! Donation boxes will be available at all seven West Michigan locations for drop off of Christmas items anytime for the Holiday Wish List Drive. Over 300 walkers (and a lot of dogs) came out to show their support along with the entire 2011-12 season Grand Rapids Griffins. The players and coaches walked our adoptable dogs and afterward mingled with the crowd and even helped find lov- ing homes for several of our dogs in need! Because of people like you, we are so very proud to announce we were able to reach our fundraising goal of $25,000 at this year’s Walk-a- thon, putting us one step closer to building our on-site veterinary clinic!! Indy has been with us since June, 29th 2004. There's no sugar coating this story. Indy was dropped off at a vet to be euthanized, his leg was broken, he was covered in blood, he had cuts, bite wounds and plenty of new and old scars to show where he'd been. The vet called us as soon as they were able to clean him off and noticed how friendly and sweet he was. They told us he needed surgery right away on his leg, we didn't hesitate to agree. Indy now has a chronic foot problem, he also has epilepsy, and severe allergies. He lives a balanced life with medication,

walking on rubber mats & being on a special diet. We only wish we could do more forthis dog that lost the chance to be loved by a real family, all because he fell into thehands of a very neglectful person. Please help support Indy's upcoming Neurologicalvisit to Canton, MI.

‘The big boy is doing very well - he is really walking well on the lead. He hasn't chased a cat or agressed another dog, a bike, or a stranger. He has started barking at sounds outside -and thunder - go figure, a dog that confronts thunder! He isn't afraid, he just isn't

impressed! He's been a very good boy. The neighbors think he's the bomb. We are enjoying his puppy energy and antics - the cats, not so impressed!’ - Harlie’s Family

sleeping well, AND getting along with Kit Kat unbelievablywell - they are comfortable in the same room - sniffing eachother (Kit Kat hides on the seat of one of our dining roomchairs - she knows she is really safe there). Kitty will playfullytap Mollee’s nose and Mollee wiggles her tail and then goesand just walks around or will lie down. She DEFINITELY lovesbelly rubs (and her treats -which Jenna loves giving to her). She loves to climb up in anyone's lap and take a comfy snooze.Kitty and Mollee definitely have the same sweet, gentle spiritand we are confident in their own time they will be snugglingtogether and be best of friends. Thanks again for helping us

find such a perfect match for our family!!!!’ - Deb & Family

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary (MAS) is the largest no-kill dog Sanctuary in the Midwest. Our mission is tofind loving homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs; spay/neuter our rescued dogs to stop thecycle of unwanted litters; assist in public education for the betterment of our local animal community; andto maintain the highest standards of care for the animals, including veterinary care.

‘Cody is doing great! He is sosmart and sweet, he can fetchand he also drops the ball afterretrieving. He uses the doggiedoor to go to the back yard- (of course, he is never alone outside), but for him this door is a game to go in and out!Overall he seems to be veryhappy! We are very happy for sure…. to have such awonderful companion in our life.’

bed (where she has slept every night since). She hasn’thad any accidents in the house and is adjusting to her new life. Squeaky and Echo are still working things outbut I find them sniffing at each other now and then....it will come in time I am sure :) The kids love her she takestons of walks and is super popular in the neighborhood already. She is such a social butterfly. Her favorite thingis running after tennis balls in the backyard (we alwaystire out before she does). Heather is working on newtricks with her as well. Meet Jazmine! Jazmine came to Mackenzie’s in terribleexcruciating pain from a long existing, deep set ear infection. At her previous shelter they were unaware of her chronic condition and unable to accommodate Jazmine's temperamentwhile she was experiencing such great pain. She was scheduled tobe put down when Mackenzie’s stepped in. Our commitment toproviding the highest standard of veterinary care to our dogsworked in Jazmine's favor. After several attempts of riddingJazmine of this horrible infection, our vets determined thather entire ear canal would have to be removed. This is an expensive and tricky surgery. Jazmine came through surgery with flying colors and is now free of pain and enjoying life like an awesome dog should! She loves to snuggle right up to you and

kiss your face along with getting some belly rubs. Help Mackenzie’s help more dogs like Jazmine by sponsoring her. We are so proud to be able

to do what we do for these amazing dogs, it is such rewarding work!

Ginger

Hello, my name is Ginger, they call me the miracle dog out here because I'm successfully winning the fight against my T Cell Gastrointestinal Lymphoma. I heard them say it was in complete remission. I'm a genuine, 10 year old American Bulldog who loves to play more than anything in the world. In fact, I'd like to play toys with you all day if I could! It's been really hard to find a family to adopt me. I know that it's just because of my medical expenses and not my personality (because I am such a sweet girl). Won't you please sponsor me so I can stay with my friends at Mackenzie'suntil I meet my special family?
