I. Impact to AIT
1) Indirect Support
The first Myanmar student completed his Masters in 1974. No Myanmar student joined AIT for a few years after that as AIT was not well known in Myanmar at that time. From 1981 to 1985 only 19 Myanmar students graduated from AIT (less than 4 students per year in average). Total graduated Myanmar students increased to 25 from 1986 to 1990 (average 5 students per year). In 1991 alone, a total of 25 Myanmar students graduated from AIT – which was the first significant increase of Myanmar alumni. A total of Myanmar alumni to date is 638 (as of May 2013). There will be more Myanmar alumni in coming years as Norwegian Government has granted a considerable number of scholarships to Myanmar citizens (Total 126 scholarships in August 2012 , 2013 and 2014 intakes ). The number of Myanmar Students graduated in each year is shown in the graph below. Majority of Myanmar alumni live and work in Myanmar in various capacities – most of them are successful leaders in their respective fields.
2) Direct Support
AITAA Myanmar Chapter is a bridge between AIT and AIT Alumni, a Forum among the AIT Alumni for social activities as well as professional ones. Furthermore, AITAA Myanmar Chapter assists and provides the information related to AIT for the potential students as necessary. AITAA Myanmar Chapter coordinates and organizes seminars, workshops, trainings accordingly, and social parties in line with the objectives of AITAA (Myanmar) Chapter as follows:
To strengthen networking among Myanmar AIT Alumni To contribute to the development of Myanmar Society To promote the image of AIT
3) Chapter’s website, blog or social media sites
AITAA Myanmar Chapter is building a network among AIT Alumni inside and outside Myanmar tocoordinate and collaborate for the future development of Myanmar society. The records of theactivities of AITAA Myanmar Chapter will be available at Face Book.
