Eye line matching is used in this sequence whereby we see Bond in a mid shot driving the car and this is linked by a close up shot of the GPS device. The function of this shot is to show his primary mission, in this case to reach a target (parrellel editing shows this to be the rescuing of the female heroine). This suggests bond is the underdog and has far more barriers to overcome. The effect of this heightens the suspense and jeopardy of this sequence.
