Tuesday Telegraph Week Ten Term Three 2019 Texas P-10 State School Principals Report by Toni Day How is it the end of term 3 already? We have had a busy term and it s great to see students working right up until Fridays Rewards Activities. Attendance is so very important and I appreciate everyone striving towards our 93% attendance. Of course, we dont expect to see students at school when they are unwell and encourage families to call the student absence line if their child is going to be absent from school— 07 4653 3366, stating the reason for the absence. Harmony Collins and I will continue on in our current roles until the end of 2019 as Justin Kuskie will remain at Stanthorpe SHS for term 4. I understand that the uncertainty of staffing can cause some families concern but rest assured the direction for improvement hasnt changed. Planning for 2020 has started to take shape and communications will be sent home via the official channels such as Newsletters, notes and our Facebook page. We are looking are holding our school swimming carnival at the end of term 4 to allow students the Christmas period for training and to ensure a smooth week 1 in 2020. Exact dates will be confirmed in the coming weeks. As always, thank you for your continued support of both staff and students at Texas P-10 State School. Year One News—This term has flown by at a rapid pace.

Currently, Year One is completing work in Science, Art and

English. In Science, we have explored ‘Changes Around Me’. We

can now identify natural, managed and built environments. As a

culmination, we are constructing a diorama of an environment. In

Art, we have created different Australian landscapes for the

upcoming Texas State School Art Exhibition. In English, we are

rehearsing our retells of Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. We hope

that everyone has a happy and safe holiday.

A place where asking the question “Are you OK?” can really work. Anyone can do it, staff, parents, students;

we can all create a culture where people feel confident asking and answering this simple yet important

question. Because it is ok to not be ok! These conversations can make a real difference to anyone going

through a tough time, especially now with the drought, fires and the floods to come.

If you really want to make a difference, we need your help to champion the message in your workplace, school

and community. You don't have to do

it alone because we've some amazing

resources you can use, visit

www.ruok.org.au KEEP THE

MESSAGE ALIVE EVERY DAY.
