DESIGNSinviting
The invitation gives your guests an impression of what your wedding will be like. They offer a hint of your wedding day theme. With seemingly
endless designs and options available, choosing invitations can be overwhelming.
Keep track of your favorites on the next few pages. Tape a small picture of the invitation on the page for later comparisons. But remember this: don’t overthink it. Go with your heart (and your budget).
12
Invite
Start designing wedding invitations as soon as you’ve reserved the date and location, five months ahead of time. Invitations should be mailed four to six weeks before the wedding.
3“Save the Date” cards need to be mailed three to six months ahead for guests who will be traveling from out of town.
A lovely, handwritten thank-you note should be sent within three months. Set a daily goal to write a few each day. It is a lot easier to write three or four notes a day than a hundred notes all at once.

Registry
Let your guests know about your wedding registry at least two months in advance. If a guest has already bought you a gift, it is highly unlikely that she would buy another from your registry.{2
YOu’ll ENjOYWedding gifts
Receiving wedding gifts is always a lot of fun, but even more if they are gifts you actually want! It is very important to register for bridal gifts, and more importantly, make people aware of the stores where you have registered. Here are some things to keep in mind when creating your wedding registry.
* The ideal number of place settings for which a couple should register.

THE DRESSthat fits you best
The Princess or “A-line” shape
has a tendency to be the most popular because it can be flattering to just about any shape.
The flare of the waistline can hide curvy hips and legs, the length of the bodice can give height to petite woman, and the A in the waistline can give the appearance of curves to a thinner woman.
dress shAPEs1. MErMAid: A fitted dress through
the bodice, down through the hips and to about mid or lower
calf where the skirt flares out
2. EMPirE: A high waistline that falls to a slim skirt
3. BALL GOWn: A fitted bodice and a waistline that leads
to a very full skirt
4. A-LinE/PrinCEss: vertical seams that flow to a flared skirt
(creating an A=shape)
5. shEATh: A silhouette that closely follows the line of the body
The Mermaidshape
A taller woman with an hour glass shape can easily pull off the Mermaid silhouette. Women who are on the very thin side or who have curvier hips may want to stay away from this dress.
The Empire Waist shape
is definitely a great shape for either the thinner or curvier woman. The small bodice which ends just below the bust line can create the appearance of a fuller bust and distract attention from larger hips. Since the skirt can come in several different lengths, tall women look great in this dress.
The Ball Gownshape
dress has fairytale appeal. The fitted bodice and flared skirt are the perfect combination for the more traditional bride and looks best on fuller figures.
The sheath shape
For the tall, thin and petite women there is the Sheath silhouette. It can make the petite bride look taller and is also extremely flattering to the athletic frame. This gown is fitted to the lines of the body and typically goes to floor length.

Dress
tips
• Begin shopping RIGHT AWAY!
Order your dress at least 9 months before the date of your bridal portrait (so you may want to find your photographer before you begin shopping).
• Shop on a weekday to avoid crowds.
• Take pictures and notes for review later.
• Wear minimal makeup to prevent staining a dress.
• Wear your hair similar to how you intend to style it on your wedding day.
• Wear shoes and undergarments similar to those you will wear on your wedding day.
• Allow 6-8 weeks for alterations before your bridal portraits.
• Only bring 1-2 advisors (mother & friend) to avoid confusion and crowding.
• Out-of-town bridesmaids should obtain their measurements from their local tailor or bridal shop.
• Order all bridesmaid dresses at the same time. The fabric used to create these dresses all comes from the same dye lot. Ordering
a few later may result in a slightly deviation from the others.
• For the brides dress and bridesmaid dresses, the responsible parties should expect to pay a deposit (at least
half) plus shipping.alterations are usually additional
charges.
DRESS SHOPPING
free-wedding-planner.com | 2011 | The Wedding Planner | Texarkana | 19
Bridesmaids have long been the victim of what felt like an attack by their best friend or sister, forced to walk down the aisle in dresses they probably would not have picked out for
themselves. These are your closest girls, whether they are your sisters or your best friends. These ladies are ready to stand by you and support you on the biggest day of your life. So why not make sure they shine while they are doing so?Let each of them wear a dress that best fits their personality, a dress they will be proud of and wear
again. The current trend encourages different lengths, styles, prints and colors. If your bridesmaids are going to pay for their own dresses you definitely want them to be happy with the dress. When money is no object for the wedding, some brides do insist on paying for the bridesmaids’ dresses, but if yours insist on taking on the cost, let them. It is a small token of their love for you. When shopping with your bridesmaids for dresses two things to keep in mind is that they don’t have to be extremely formal and they don’t have to be extremely expensive.

Beauty
Wedding photos are cherished forever. Feel confident for your“close-up” by beginning a beauty regimen with your esthetician or qualified cosmetologist early.
BEAUTIFULyouhaIr
Loose tendrils or a swept coif – healthy hair looks great in almost any style.
Consult with an expert stylist (or dermatologist) to boost the health of your hair. Also ask what wedding day hair styles will look best on you.
skInGlowing flawless skin takes a little more than rest and blemish creams.
Begin a plan with your esthetician or dermatologist to minimize pores, smooth patch zones and tone your complexion.
Take early defense against breakage by building strong nails.
Schedule regular manicures to help you resist the urge to file or bite. Supplements will increase their strength and sheen.

BEAUTIFUL DO
The latest trend in wedding coifs is to NOT follow one. Choose a style you would typi-cally wear to a special affair – like a charity event or awards dinner. You are used to this
style and will be more comfortable with all eyes on you at your wedding. Furthermore, your guests will recognize the beautiful bride is authentically you.
SUPPLY PICTURESStylists are artists. They love to see what it is they are being asked to create. Tear out photos of hair styles you like. Supply a photo of your dress so your stylist can imagine the bigger picture.
ACCESSORIZEFor the classy or the quirky – BRING IT ON! Head-bands, hats, hair pins or flowers express your person-ality. Play with more than one accessory with your stylist.
CAPTURESnap photos of the different looks and review them later with a trusted friend or family member.
DIRTY SECRETShampoo and condition the day before the wedding. Super clean hair can also mean super limp hair – which can be desirable for full-bodied hair that is going to be styled sleek and straight.

Flowers
creativeflowersIt’s true. Florists are the busiest pro in the industry. Insight and knowledge will help you talk thier talk and get what you want.
Here are some tips:
1 they’re busyDuring the holidays florists are super busy. It may not be a good idea to drop in unannounced. If at all possible, try to wait until after the holidays and be sure to make an appointment.
supply a picture of the gownHaving pictures of the wedding gown can be extremely helpful. Florists are visual people - artists - and they need to see what you have in mind.
flowers are seasonalLike fruit, prices of flowers fluctuate. If you want to save money, keep the season in mind as you choose the perfect flower.

Flow

test driveIf you’re not familiar with the area, order something small. Pretend to be an aver-age customer and order an arrangement. It’ll give you a good idea of what it’s like to deal with the florist.
your attitudeAttitiude will get you no where, nor will flashing a handful of cash. Nice custom-ers, however, will get everything. Florists are artists who love people who appreci-ate their work. Being nice will go a long way. Florists are passionate about their work. Find a florist who loves their job and you will be amazingly happy with the results.
swatches!Plum isn’t the same lavender. Pink can be hot pink or pastel pink. Even white can be egg-shell or slate. Have swatches for all dresses to ensure the flowers match beautifully.
a question of expertiseTulips are beautiful. However, during the summer the heat can quickly destroy tulips. If you touch a gardenia, the oil from your skin is going to turn the flower brown. You need to trust that the florist is going to know these things. They’re not trying to spoil your fun. They simply know what works and what doesn’t.
where to saveNo one will remember the centerpiece; how-ever, everyone will have pictures of you and the bridal bouquet. If you’re on a tight budget, cut down the centerpieces.
have everything ready beforehandWhere is the wedding? Where is the recep-tion? Who is attending? What is the date? These are very simple questions and it would amaze you to know how many people don’t know the answers. Florists are always happy to help you with ideas. However, when it comes time to book the busy florist, you should be able to answer all of these ques-tions.
review the orderYou should get a copy of the flower order. Review it and make sure it’s correct.

Don’t let the memories slip away. Freeze these moments in time and create heirlooms for the generations of your family to come.
The Professional Photographers of America issues degrees for Certified Professional Photographers, Photographic Craftsmen and Master of Photography. Ask around and look for recommendations among friends and family. You could end up with a really good lead to someone who doesn’t
advertise.
Make sure the photographer’s pricing is within your budget, but do not scrimp here. Pictures are priceless! Ask what is included in the package. Find out how many portraits and sizes are in it, how many hours, if there is a charge for overtime, how much reorders are, how many poses and scenes are included and if they are willing to stay until the end. Leave nothing to chance. Make sure all of the terms are agreed up ahead of time.

M ore than the three Cs, there are several factors to consider in choosing your wedding set.
Many couples are customizing their rings, engraving special notes inside and even choosing socially responisible diamonds?
Finding the ring that fits your style and budget takes getting out and trying them on.
Stretch your budget while expressing your unique style, through BANDS. Stack several for a custom look. Thin bands with chunky diamond bands. Rose gold with yellow gold and. Add one thin band of channel set saffires (something blue). Play around with it. Your heart tell you when you have found it )or them).

Men now have many choices in metals for their bands.
Men in general are usually happy with just a sim-ple band. Inside, he is laughing that he actually convinced this great girl to marry him in the first place. For women, this is a piece of jewelry you will be wearing for the rest of your life.

What they ate.
If they were comfortable.
The bride's dress.
What Will guests remember about Your Wedding long after it is over?
The ceremony was beautiful, the bride was angelic, and the vows were touching. Now, time to eat and party!
Every guest looks forward to the food, dring and entertaiment! But you may not be able to please everyone. Offering fare that satisfies everyone's different preferences, allergies or pickiness is impos-sible. So don't sweat it. Trust your caterer to do what they do best - create an impressive menu to please most.
