SO WHAT’S NEW WITH TESTING THIS YEAR? JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING… Enhanced Math and Reading EOGs- based on

the new Common Core and Essential Standards

Enhanced 8th Grade Science EOG will be online

All students will take a Social Studies Common Exam

All 6th and 7th graders will take a Science Common Exam

“School Performance Grades” will be generated from a school’s performance on EOGs

THE EOGS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED TO BE MORE RIGOROUS There will be no retest available this year

Results will not be published until October 2013

Renorming will likely affect student scores

EOG results will not impact promotion standards this year only

VERY IMPORTANT…

Your student needs to be present for every test. We will only have one week for make-ups, and students do better when they test with their regular classes and teachers

Be positive and encouraging with your student.

ENDURANCE is probably one of the most important skills… Support your student in completing complicated tasks and reading for extended periods of time

Make sure your students gets good rest, good exercise, and healthful food in the weeks leading up to the tests
