ESMUMTEC. Engineering for the saw industry
From the beginning we have specialised in the development and construc-
tion of precision machines for the saw industry. We are still concentrating on
innovative technologies for testing, tensioning and levelling of circular saw
resp. frame saw blades.
Today our programme comprises of six series with more than 20 different
machines. This way we are also able to offer saw blade manufacturers, serv-
ice companies and operators not only individual constructions, but also other
solutions from our programme.
Of course, individual constructions are still of great importance to us. Apart
from our testing, tensioning and levelling machines, we also construct a
whole range of customer-specifi c special machines, such as e.g. machines
for bore processing, handling systems resp. automated feeding, spot weld-
ing devices for sandwich saws as well as surface grinding and bore grinding
machines.
Our development work is characterised by innovated engineering. We there-
by always try new paths in order to be able to implement the best possible
solution. The previous successful developments, such as for example the
modern testing and tensioning machines of the TTM rsp. TTM - A - Series or
the optical measuring and evaluation system OptiCheck confi rm our path.
Our success is however not only based on experience and knowledge. In
everyday business life many other factors play a big part. For us e.g. the
company seat in Remscheid – the central location of the German tool indus-
try – is a considerably important factor. In Remscheid alongside competent
specialists, we also have a large number of suppliers who have specialised
in machine and tool construction. It is therefore no coincidence that more
saw blade manufacturers can be found in Remscheid than in any other town
in Germany.
Our success depends on these and many other factors and this is fi nally also
contributes to your success. Our ideals, constructions and developments
inure to the benefi t of your product quality.

Since 1950 the trained saw leveller and industry foreman Heinrich Mum-
menhoff has been involved with the saw industry. In 1967 he established
his fi rst own manufacturing business which he successfully managed for 25
years. During this time not only were numerous patents developed, but also
a product-specifi c record of a special kind. With a diameter of fi ve metres,
his company produced the world‘s biggest saw blade at that time and was
therewith awarded with an entry in the Guisness Book of World Records.
After that he was involved with automated levelling and tensioning technolo-
gies on saw blades for many years and developed testing machines and
rolling facilities. Heinrich Mummenhoff founded the Mummenhoff Technolo-
gie GmbH in Remscheid in 2002, which since then has established itself by
means of the development and construction of machines for testing, tension-
ing and levelling saw blades on an international level. Even today his experi-
ence is still one of the primary pillars of the success of the Mummenhoff
Technologie GmbH.
Heinrich Mummenhoff
Thanks to his decades of experience, his practical know how and his ability
to solve problems in an innovative and economical way, Heinrich Mummen-
hoff is a saw tool expert much asked for all over the world. Together with our
MUMTEC team Heinrich Mummenhoff still supports our customers with both
words and deeds.

ESMUMTEC. Engineering for high-quality products
Our customers demand an outstanding product quality. They produce or
maintain high-quality circular saw blades and steel blades. Together they de-
mand quality at a reasonable price. For our customers the improvement and
securing of their production level is therefore of great importance.
Our innovative testing and tensioning machines enthuse our business part-
ners, because they optimise the quality of their products and secure the qual-
ity level they have achieved. This is also the demand which our customers will
make on us in the future. We are therefore acting in a very responsible way
and are always searching for new innovative solutions. Innovative engineer-
ing obliges. We are aware of this fact.
Long-term customer relations and joint growth in the dynamic markets of
our globalised world are factors that contribute to our corporate success.
The aim of our continuing process of development is never to be satisfi ed,
since being engineering specialists, every standstill for us is like being in a
simultaneous state of regression.
Our development is concentrated on the quality improvement and assurance
of saw tools, whereas the focus is on the optimisation of interfaces by means
of an effective application of saw blades. In detail this means for you: an
increase of the operating life of your saw tools, a guarantee of a consistent
cutting quality during the complete duration of use, and therefore fi nally an
increase of the reliability of your saw tools in daily operation.
In this way we are making an important contribution to optimising your prod-
uct processes and quality. By means of our know how we can use your
existing potential in the best possible way. We therefore also work closely
with our customers on the joint objective of converting potential success into
permanent success, day after day.

Testing technology
Only those focusing on the highest precision right from the beginning will
achieve an outstanding result in the end. The applied measuring technology
is therefore essential, since the result of all further treatment processes de-
pends on the accurancy of the determined measuring information.
The saw testing machine EPG - 03, which was developed especially for test-
ing and rolling machines, is the core of MUMTEC measuring technology. The
well thought-out measuring system is being constantly further developed by
us and is currently available in the third generation. Exact conclusions can be
drawn from the determined measuring data for the axial run-out and the ten-
sion of circular saw blades and steel blades. The precision of the electronical
saw testing machine EPG - 03 is therefore decisive for the quality and the
success of the subsequent rolling and levelling procedures.
In the computer system belonging to the saw testing machine EPG - 03, the
measuring values are further processed by the specially developed testing
software 4.0. The operator is able to call up the measuring results from the
display in different views. The results of the axial run-out can for example be
displayed as a bar graph or you can view the results of the axial run-out and
the tension measuring in a diagram or list form. The EPG - 03 therefore pro-
vides the necessary transparency and informs you about all axial run-out and
tension properties of your saw blades and steel blades in detail.
By means of the Windows operating system all measuring results can be
integrated in your network without any problems so that the measuring infor-
mation saved in the Microsoft Excel format can be further processed on any
connected computer. Of course the data can also be saved on a server so
that it can be integrated into the administrative workfl ow for documentation
at any time.
Existing testing machines and testing spindles can be subsequently provided
with the EPG - 03. No matter what machine our testing device is applied to, it
will help you to manufacture on the highest level of quality.
Saw testing machine EPG - 03 – measuring quality par excellence!
Saw testing machine EPG - 03 with testing software 4.0
The electronical saw testing machine takes up the measuring
data for the axial run-out and the saw tension. After that the test-
ing software 4.0 compares the measuring data with the prede-
fi ned range of tolerance. The slightest deviances from the norm
are directly visible.
The testing software applied for this purpose enables numerous
forms of evaluation and presentation. Measuring and order data
can also be recorded and administered so that an individual
testing management is enabled.
9MUMTEC
Saw OptiCheck ... and quality becomes visible!
Tooth by tooth the optical measuring and evaluation system Saw
OptiCheck clarifi es the saw blade quality. All tolerance deviances
are thereby made visible at a glance.
With this modern testing procedure the fi eld of application of the
MUMTEC machines can be extended to the testing of the saw teeth.
This way you are practically provided with your own saw blade test-
ing station.
Our testing and tensioning machines are based on innovative
and precise testing technologies. With the optical measuring
and evaluation system Saw OptiCheck, a highly sensitive testing
method is provided with which saw teeth can be quickly and
very precisely measured.
The optical image processing and measuring technology can
measure up to 25 teeth per second and is thereby able to iden-
tify determined deviances of ±0.01 mm by means of an identifi -
cation system. Not only the recording of all relevant measuring
data is possible, but also the tolerance adjustment in the areas
of tooth placement, tooth width, tooth angle, form of the cutting
edge etc.
A further option of the optical measuring and evaluation system
Saw Opti-Check is the dynamic measuring of the axial run-out
and swinging behaviour for the number of revolutions per opera-
tion. The different measuring possibilities can be expanded in
different extension steps up to a complete and automatic outline
measurement, if required.

Axial run-out and tension testing machines
If it is simply about the plain measuring of axial run-out and tensioning, our
P - Series machines are exactly the right thing for you. The testing machines
are suitable for measuring circular saw blades and steel blades with a diam-
eter of 250 to 3.500 mm. The individual measuring values provide you with
the necessary transparency. In this way you always have the axial run-out and
tensioning properties of your saw blades under control.
The electronical saw testing machine EPG - 03 is part of the basic equip-
ment. With this computer-aided measuring system developed by MUMTEC
the measuring and display of axial run-out and tension tolerances can be
carried out by means of the special software with ISO 9001 compliant data
storage and documentation.
Longer machine operating times increase your output and therefore your
economic success. The operating times are however considerably infl uenced
by the standstill periods of the applied tools. For high-quality saw blades axial
run-out and tension are part of the decisive quality factors. Due to our testing
machines both are under control. In this way you can be sure that only saw
blades with an ideal tension and correct axial run-out are applied.

If the circular saw blades and steel blades are only treated occasionally resp. in smaller quantities, the axial run-out and tensioning can be economically monitored. The testing stand T -1200 is therefore ide-ally suitable for the fi nal inspection in the sharpening room or to apply with sharpening services.
For the measuring and display of axial run-out and tension tolerances, the T -1200 has been provided with the saw testing device EPG - 03 as a standard.

Tension rolling machines
The perfect tension line for circular and frame saw blades
The robust tensioning machines of the S - Series have been especially devel-
oped for operation at sharpening centres and at saw manufacturers‘. Already
in the basic provision the circular saw blades and steel blades enable a
perfect rolling procedure. The S -1600 thereby tensions saw blades with a
diameter of 250 mm to 1.600 mm The slightly larger S - 2000 can even treat
saw blades with a diameter of up to 2.000 mm.
The optional frame saw support provides for real multifunctionality. With only
one rolling machine circular and frame saw blades can then be ideally ten-
sioned. A special grid width adjustment enables the quick and easy adapta-
tion of the frame saw retention in different saw widths up to a maximum of
200 mm.
The solid and effective design for the rational application at sharpening cen-
tres or saw manufactures already becomes visible with the construction of
the S - Series. Two driven rolling shafts provide the highest precision during
the rolling process in connection with maximum pressure of the rolling sys-
tem of 6 tons. The rolling machines of the S - Series have also been provided
with tangential adjustment on the feeding carriage for the compensation of
disturbing pressure and draft infl uences.
Due to the multifunctional application of our rolling machines in circular and
frame saw manufacture, production procedures can be optimised. Therefore,
the S - Series rolling machines are an investment which quickly pays off.

Testing and tensioning machines
The generation of TTM machines was designed for operation in sharpening
rooms or at sharpening services. For larger sharpening centres and for the
operation in saw manufacturing the TTM - A - Series is available as a fully au-
tomated version. Both ranges are based on the approved technology of the
big PSR - Series.
At fi rst, the combination machines very precisely measure the axial run-out
and the tension of the circular saw blades and steel blades. Of course the
electronic saw testing machine EPG - 03 is also applied, which is already part
of the scope of the series in its standard version. As soon as the testing re-
sults are available, the rolling procedure can be carried out. If the measuring
values are subsequently within the predetermined tolerance area, the tension-
ing of the saw blade is perfect. Otherwise the saw blade can be quickly and
easily rolled once more.
Thanks to the electronic saw testing machine EPG - 03 and the special soft-
ware, the measuring as well as the presentation of the axial run-out and the
tension tolerances can be carried out with ISO 9001 compliant data storage
and documentation. In this way you are objectively and verifi ably certifying
the excellent quality of your saw blades. At the push of a button you will ob-
tain this advantage in competition for each saw blade in black and white.

Fully automated testing and tensioning machines
2
The new range of fully automated testing and tensioning machines is es-
pecially suited for the rational treatment of large amounts of circular saw
blades and steel blades. The machines of the TTM - A - Series are therefore
especially applied in sharpening centres as well as in the production of saw
blade manufacturers.
The clou of the TTM - A - Series is the fully automated processing. After setting
the saw blade, the testing procedure is started. The axial run-out as well as
the tension are thereby measured precisely by means of the integrated test-
ing software and compared to the predefi ned tolerance areas. As far as there
are any deviances, the automatic rolling process is started. If all measuring
data is fi nally okay, the saw blade is released for demount.
The handling of the fully automated TTM -1600 - A resp. TTM - 2000 - A is pretty
simple in everyday business life. The operator uploads the saw blade specifi c
data in the respective programme and sets the saw blade to be controlled
on the testing spindle. After placing the covering fl ange locking is effected
by means the quick-release mechanism. One push of a button is suffi cient
to start the fully automated testing and rolling processes of the TTM - A. After
a successful fi nal testing the saw blade has been precisely measured and
perfectly tensioned. And this in a verifyable way due the testing software
documenting all measuring data compliant to ISO 9001.

Testing and tensioning in the XXL area
The PS - Series. Complete quality assurance
With the combined testing and tensioning machines of the extremely robust
PS - Series, circular saw blades and steel blades with diameters of 1.000 to
3.500 mm can be tested and rolled with respect to the axial run-out and ten-
sion. The PS machines are applied in sharpening centres and by saw blade
manufacturers for quality assurance according to ISO 9001 ff.
The vertical construction of the PS machines with axial run-out and tension
confi gurations attached to the side, faciliates the saw blade replacement. The
combined testing and tensioning machine works with only one vertical saw
blade setting during the testing as well as the rolling procedure. The time
intensive changing between the individual testing and tensioning procedures
is completely omitted, including the necessary releasing and setting.
At fi rst the axial run-out and the tension are measured by means of the
serially, electric saw testing machine EPG - 03. For this purpose, the electric
spindle drive (optional) turns the saw blade past the measuring unit in an
even way. By means of the measuring data the rolling procedure can now be
introduced. The EPG - 03 subsequently checks the rolling success.
The accomplishment of the individual testing and rolling procedures is ef-
fected in a fully automated way with the PS - 2500 - A rsp. PS - 3500 - A. This
saves time and reduces operating errors during the saw blade treatment.
With the help of the integrated testing software, the measuring and presenta-
tion of the axial run-out and tension tolerances with ISO 9001 compliant data
storage and documentation is very easy.

In the premium machines of the PSR series the three operating procedures of
testing, tensioning and levelling are combined to a fully automated machine
process. Despite the advantage of the compact and space saving construc-
tion, the gain of time compared to a saw blade or saw blade treatment by
means of individual special machines and manual levelling is already enor-
mous since the PSR machines only require a single clamping of the saw
blade for all operating processes.
Firstly the pneumatic quick-release mechanism takes up the saw blade. Then
the PSR provided with the most modern laser measuring technology meas-
ures the axial run-out and the tension. The determined process values are
then compared to the predefi ned tolerance areas with the integrated testing
software. The subsequent rolling and levelling processes automatically cor-
rect the existing deviances. The fi nal measuring checks the process result
and releases the saw blade for tensioning.
Of course the measuring and presentation of the axial run-out and tension
tolerances are carried out with an ISO 9001 compliant data storage and
documentation. In this way the axial run-out and tension properties can be
verifi ed for each saw blade. This verifi cation is an important factor for the
quality control according to ISO 9001ff.
With the optionally available measuring system Saw OptiCheck, the fi eld of
application of the PSR machines can be extended within reason. The optical
measuring system measures all saw teeth in a fully automated way and there-
fore also makes an important contribution to quality assurance for this area.
