I know it sounds cliché when I say that the IAESTE internship changed my life but it did. I interned at Hoschule Merseburg (FH). My professor has not only written recommendations for me which has helped me get into a master’s programme at E.T.H. Zurich now, but he also showed us a slice of Germany and German research. I pursued an internship at the University of London through IAESTE IndiaMIT this summer. I wish to thank the entire IAESTE IndiaMIT team for their support and co-operation. STAR-DUNDEE Ltd. is a spin out company from the Space Systems Research Group of the University of Dundee. I liked the project assigned to me though the job was quite challenging. . I chose Croatia to gain cultural and technical experience and honestly didn’t have very high expectations in the beginning; but the more I explored, the more I fell in love with the place. Through IAESTE IndiaMIT, I had obtained a position as a summer trainee at the Microwave Devices Technology Team at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the largest government funded research institute in Korea. The internship inculcated in me the ethics of research and taught me what team work and commitment is all about. The experience that I had with the IAESTE in both the countries was good. But the experience I had with the internship was amazing. Meeting new people, seeing new places and being exposed to so many varied experiences really helps one to think bigger and look more towards the big picture. The internship was a wonderful experience, with many new things to discover about the Greek ways. It was wonderful time coupled with a good academics going in the forefront. This really took me to new heights, the hands on experience was something that I really relished till the very last day I worked. My employers was so flexible that they we able to accommodate a student in the second year of study. The internship really was a very good step in helping me decide what I would like to see myself become in future. I went for an internship to Bremo, Poland in the summer of 2008 to an Italian company, a pioneer in manufacturing Performance Brakes. I was assisting in the designing machining systems which were planned to be used extensively throughout the plant. It was an experience once in a life time. I would like to thank IAESTE from the bottom of my heart for giving me this opportunity.
