2.4. Deviations from the Test Specification a). Conducted Emissions and Disturbance Power measurements were not made at the spot frequencies set out in sub-clauses7.4.1.3 and 7.4.1.4 of EN 55014-1:2006+A1:2009 Incorporating corrigendum January 2009. This was at the customers` request, due to the EUT`s emissions being generally low across the relevant spectrum

b). For Conducted Emissions and Disturbance Power measurements, the tests at 160 kHz and 50 MHz were not performed over the range of 0.9 to 1.1 times the rated voltage as set out in sub-clause 7.1.4 of EN 55014-1:2006+A1:2009 Incorporating corrigendum January 2009. This was at the customers` request.

c). In accordance with a request from the customer, Disturbance Power measurements were made at a fixed point on the cable being tested. This was not more than 3 metres from the EUT. In the event that emissions were less than 10 bBpW from the specification limit, the full cable length was tested to maximise the emissions.

5. MONITORING PERFORMANCE

5.1. Overview

A functional description and a definition of performance criteria, during or as a consequence of the EMC testing, shall be provided by the manufacturer and noted in the test report, based on the following criteria. Performance criteria were not applicable for emissions tests.

5.2. Performance Criteria Criterion A The apparatus shall continue to operate as intended during the test. No degradation of performance or loss of

function is allowed below a performance level (or permissible loss of performance) specified by the manufacturer, when the apparatus is used as intended. If the minimum performance level or the permissible performance loss is not specified by the manufacturer, then either of these may be derived from the product description and documentation, and from what the user may reasonably expect from the apparatus if used as intended.

Criterion B The apparatus shall continue to operate as intended after the test. No degradation of performance or loss of function is allowed below a performance level (or permissible loss of performance) specified by the manufacturer, when the apparatus is used as intended. During the test, degradation of performance is allowed, however, no change of actual operating state or stored data is allowed. If the minimum performance level or the permissible performance loss is not specified by the manufacturer, then either of these may be derived from the product description and documentation, and from what the user may reasonably expect from the apparatus if used as intended.

Criterion C Temporary loss of function is allowed, provided the function is self-recoverable or can be restored by the operation of the controls, or by any operation specified in the instructions for use.

5.3. Monitoring EUT Performance during Testing For the purposes of testing, the term “operate as intended” was defined as:

The EUT continued to operate at the set speed.

For the purposes of testing, an “unintentional response” was defined as:

An applied EMC phenomenon causing the EUT speed setting to change.

Method used to determine whether user control functions and stored data were lost after the EMC exposure:

A functionality check was performed after each exposure

Method of assessment of level of performance or degradation of performance during and/or after EMC exposure:

The EUT was monitored for airflow changes

6. MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY

6.1. Overview

No measurement or test can ever be perfect and the imperfections give rise to error of measurement in the results. Consequently, the result of a measurement is only an approximation to the value of the measurand (the specific quantity subject to measurement) and is only complete when accompanied by a statement regarding the uncertainty of approximation.

The measurement uncertainty may need to be taken into account when interpreting the test results included within this test report.

6.2. Method of calculation

The methods used to calculate the uncertainties included within this test report are in line with those recommended within the various measurement specifications. Where measurement specifications do not include guidelines for the evaluation of measurement uncertainty, the published guidance of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is followed.

7. MEASUREMENTS, EXAMINATIONS AND DERIVED RESULTS

7.1. General Comments

7.1.1. This section contains the test result sheets for the measurements listed in Section 2.2. Summary of Test Results (above).

7.1.2. The measurement uncertainties stated in the test result sheets were calculated in accordance with documented best practice and represent a confidence level of 95%. Where only confidence level is given, it has been demonstrated that the relevant items of test equipment used meet the specified requirements in the standard with at least this level of confidence.

7.1.3. Please refer to Section 6. Measurement Uncertainty on page 11 for details of our treatment of measurement uncertainty.

TEST SPECIFICATION DETAILS The EUT has been configured and tested in accordance with the methods and procedures detailed within the following basic standard: REFERENCE: EN 55014-1:2006+A1:2009 Incorporating corrigendum January 2009

TITLE: Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus - Part 1: Emission

COMMENTS None

DEVIATIONS FROM TEST SPECIFICATION a) Measurements were not made at the spot frequencies set out in sub-clause 7.4.1.4 of EN 55014-1:2006+A1:2009 Incorporating corrigendum January 2009. This was at the customers` request, due to the EUT`s emissions being generally low across the relevant spectrum. b). The test at 50 MHz was not performed over the range of 0.9 to 1.1 times the rated voltage as set out in sub-clause 7.1.4 of EN 55014-1:2006+A1:2009 Incorporating corrigendum January 2009. This was at the customers` request. c). In accordance with a request from the customer, measurements were made at a fixed point on the cable being tested. This was not more than 3 metres from the EUT. In the event that emissions were less than 10 dBpW from the specification limit, the full cable length was tested to maximise the emissions.
