hey frnds....

infosys must b dream company for many of you..atleast for all CS-IT students...

it was my dream company too...n finally i achieved it..

do group study,if possible,it helps a lot in placement time,it helps in interview preparation as well...

the elimination round is d written..here they select very less people..

well,u have to jus work on ur english n data sufficiency.apti is d least important...

jus go thru d papers on freshers world n do rs agarwal..

there is no negative marking..so dont leave any question unattempted..

time is very less,u can hardly come back later to d questions,so do them in one go..

dont try to cheat much, infosys is a bit strict in these matters n can seal ur copy..or may d entire room.

the most important topics from which most of d questions r:

1. syllogisms(solve it by venn diagram)

2.data sufficiency(most important at least 10 ques were there)

3.problem on ages

4.time and work

5.speed,time n distance-(boats n trains)

6.logic-(first seven chapters in rs aggarwal in non verbal section)

Page 16: Test Paper

7. para-jumbles

8.fill in d blanks with correct words

9.deriving conclusion

first five questions on puzzle test(in rs aggarwal chapter 7),it was one paragraph on which following five questions were based..it was easy..but do it carefully..read the question properly, make a table n do it.

next five on picture/series completion,it was a bit tough..

five questions on data interpretation(may be bar chart or pie chart)

there were two reading comprehensions of five questions each.. attempt them at last..

they r very time consuming..

there was very less time for verbal section,so do it fast..jus read d question once but carefully n give d answer...there is no time of reading d question twice..

n for d interview...

its a formality in infosys..jus be prepared wid sum basic questions..

1.about urself

2.ur quality

3.ur weaknesses

4.ur strength

5.five yrs frm now

6.implementation of ur branch

Personal Interview

Amitabh Bachan could go from being a window washer to the chairman of a boardroom without being introspective, but MBA's have to be. Before we jump in with questions and self-assessments, let's get one thing upfront and on the table. Interviewers develop an impression of you in the first few minutes of the meeting, and spend the rest of the interview confirming their initial impression. Therefore, practice, practice and practice some more... This page has all the possible tips on attending interviews for the purpose of joining an MBA program (in top B schools).

What to Expect in an IIM Personal Interview?

The focus of a B-school interview can range from specific questions about your job to broad discussions on life. Approach the interview as a conversation to be enjoyed, not as a question-and-answer ordeal. It may be about your hobbies - your recent cross-country trip. This doesn't mean that the interviewers are not serious. It just means that you're being sized up as a person and a future professional in all your dimensions. Try to be your witty, charming, natural self. Donot try to put on. The interviewers will be able to see your masks through. Students, faculty, admissions personnel and alumni conduct interviews. Don't dismiss students as the lightweights.

It is important to have a good idea of "What you consider to be your greatest strength, why and what are some examples that show this", before you go into an interview. Although the interviewer will most likely ask some pointed questions, you may also encounter something as broad as "So, tell me about yourself." These open ended questions are usually the ones that help you lead the interview.

Either way, you should have in mind what you want to convey about who you are before you go into any interview. Lack of preparation is a common complaint among interviewers, and if you are prepared, you will stand out among your competitors.

First steps on how to approach an interview?

Do your homework

Have well thought out answers for questions such as "What are your strengths? Why are you right for that particular business school? Why is that particular program right for you?"

It shows organization and forethought if you know some specifics about the program to which you are applying and can explain why those features fit well with your career goals. For example, if you are applying to the Xavier Labour Relation Institute (XLRI), through some simple research you will discover that they are strong in Human Resource Development. Perhaps, you have worked with a recruitment company or have been a trainer in an institute. Relate these in the

Page 19: Test Paper

interview.

Don't Waste Time

Don't waste time discussing things that are already indicated on your application. You can elaborate if the topic illustrates something about your character and preparedness for the b-school experience, but do not be redundant.

Remember that the first impression you create is very important. When asked to say "something about yourself", most candidates just blurt out their schooling, college, marks and qualifications. All this is already there in the application. Why tell the interviewer something he/she already knows. Ideally, you would want to use this opportunity to show how you are different from the thousands of other applicants, not to blend in to the crowd.

A final word on approaching this question. After you have said what you have to say - don't venture any further. Don't drone. You just might say something foolish. Sometimes interviewers don't interrupt in order to give the candidate the impression that he has not spoken enough. This is just a stress/error inducing tactic. Don't fall for it. If the pause gets too awkward for your liking, just add something like, "Is there something specific that you would like to know about me"

Guidelines for Preparing a Resume

A resume furnishes details for presenting yourself for a prospective job. It is a summary of your skills, accomplishments, experiences and education. There is no standard format for preparing your resume. It should be designed in such a way to impress your prospective employer and to ensure the call for an interview. Apart from the basic categories, you can add on details to make it more impressive. Always make a rough resume with all the details before you finalize on the fair one. We can go through the basic categories, to help you to make a resume.

Name, Address and Telephone: One has to give his/her permanent address with phone number if any. If you have an e-mail address, include that too.

Objective: It should be brief and to the point. It must give the employer an idea about your work preferences and where you want to be in your career, in future.

For example:

Seeking a challenging position with opportunities for career advancement

and learning.

To have a long career in the (particular field), gain further skills and attain the goal of the organisation aiming at mutual growth.

More than one year experience in the particular industry.

Educational Qualification: Here one has to include your degree, specialisation, institutions attended, year of graduation, subsidiary subjects studied, and any special workshops, seminars, related courses or projects done. You can give your qualifications separately as academic and professional or technical if any.

Career Graph or Work Experience: One must give details regarding the place you have worked, the position you held, your responsibilities and achievements if any, duration of work etc. List the name of the organisation, give a brief description if you prefer and the place it's located. Then give your work responsibilities with an emphasis on achievements- (work projects done, targets achieved etc.) and the dates or period you have served in the organisation.

Personal Profile: Your personal details like date of birth, permanent address and contact number, e-mail, passport details if any, hobbies, languages known etc.
