Teslers Time Out Wellington events Fri 9 Sept – Kick off with the NZSM Big Band The Rugby World Cup opens this week with celebrations all over the country. Be a part of this historic event... without having to watch any rugby! The New Zealand School of Music is offering a free ‘kick off’ concert featuring the Award-winning NZSM Big Band. The waterfront will be packed with Rugby fans, so escape to the Town Hall for a different take on the celebrations. Fri 9 Sept, 5-6pm, Wellington Town Hall. Entry is free! Fri 9 Sept - New Zealand on Screen This installation on the waterfront is a showcase of iconic TV, films, clips and music videos. Made from modified shipping containers, it includes interactive spaces and an outdoor video tower that comes alive at night with projections! 9 Sept – 23 Oct, 11am – 9pm, Te Papa Promenade (waterfront). Free! Sat 10 Sept – WMA Onam Celebrations Wellington Malayalee Association presents Onam 2011! Celebrate in the traditional Kerala style with cultural performances and, of course, a traditional vegetarian Onam feast in vazhayila (banana leaf) Sat 10 Sept, 5.30pm, Indian Cutural Centre, 48 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie. $ 15 each or $40 (admit 4). Tournament organisers are looking for enthusiastic people to volunteer in a variety of roles, all aimed at making RWC 2011 an outstanding success. Fri 9 Sept Volleyball The times for the Volleyball game planned for tomorrow 9 Sep have now changed: 2.00pm to 3.00 pm. I hope that will allow more of you to attend! On Campus Victoria International Theatre: Actors wanted Victoria International Theatre (VIT) is a new club on campus, bringing together international and Kiwi students to perform NZ and Pacific plays. Several BEdTESOL students are already involved! They are looking for committed actors and actresses for their upcoming project, Waiora. No experience necessary!
