That is why we have started the Regeneraon Partnership that has the purpose of uplif- ing deprived areas by offering long-term unemployed people the opportunity to get back into work. We make it a point of guaranteeing a third of the jobs available to local people who have been unemployed for more than six months. Also, we realize geng back into work can’t be that easy so we have tried to make the whole process as simple and effecve as possible. The ap- plicants are carefully chosen based on their behaviour and people skills instead of qualificaons and are trained for 6 weeks before the actual employment to culvate fundamental retail skills before they startwork in store. Tesco is con- nually trying to give people the op- portunity they need to build a career and also support the commu- nies we work in. Always collaborang with the local councils ad JobCentre Plus, Tesco has just launched it’s 48th Regener- aon Partnership store in Lewisham, London. The store has provided 235 jobs, 77 of which went to local unemployed people.
