Mr. Rivenbark recently retired from the U. S. Navy Reserves as a Supply Corps Captain and from civilian service with the Navy. As a Navy Reservist he held a number of senior leadership positions. Specifically, he served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer at Navy Cargo Handling Battalion TEN and Logistics Department Head at NR Joint Task Force, U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFFC). Mr. Rivenbark also served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer at NR Fleet Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Headquarters 107 and Commanding Officer, Navy Cargo Handling Battalion ELEVEN. After 9/11, he was mobilized to active duty at USFFC to develop maritime homeland security plans and policies. He was mobilized to active duty a second time as Group Commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group Forward, home based in Camp Arfijan (Kuwait) where he was responsible for over 700 Sailors conducting cargo handling operations and customs inspections throughout Iraq and Kuwait. Mr. Rivenbark served on active duty a third time after 9/11 as the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Base Support Officer where he provided oversight and management of all base support functions at the installation, which included 45 tenant commands totaling approximately 13,000 military and civilian personnel.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, from Old Dominion University Mr. Rivenbark worked as an auditor with the Commonwealth of Virginia for three years and then commenced his federal civilian service as a senior auditor with the Naval Audit Service. Mr. Rivenbark retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard while serving in various senior leadership positions including Assistant Project Superintendent, Deputy Comptroller, Internal Consultant, and Director, Internal Review Office. He also represented the Naval Sea Systems Command Inspector General during special assignments. During his civilian career Mr. Rivenbark was a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Government Financial Manager who also specialized in the application of Malcolm Baldrige Award Criteria principles. He is currently a Certified Seven Habits of Highly Successful People Facilitator.
Mr. Rivenbark is active in the community and has served in various roles such as a Virginia High School League Wrestling Official and a coach of youth sports. He has held numerous leadership roles at Aldersgate United Methodist Church and is currently on the Old Dominion University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
