Objective Aim of this research is to determine frequency and effects of certain known factors from expert’s opinions and by previous available factors which causes cost variations in the water related construction projects in Pakistan, and highlight the critical factor among assumed factor causing cost variation of project. Methodology of Research A thorough literature review was done and also the expert opinions from industry experts were taken, through which a number of cost variation factors were identified. Categorizing all identified/assumed factors in to certain groups depending on the nature of factors. For example Social factors, political factors, cost variation factors, financial factors, false Planning & biasness, environmental etc. Frequency and effects of factors are identified with the help of questionnaire/survey forms, emailed/sent to contractors, construction managers & Consultants currently engaged or done projects related to water industry in Pakistan. Questionnaire/Survey forms (for this case study, data from 30 survey form is gathered from contractors, construction management and consultant firms) consisting of two parts (A & B), in fist part general details of respondent is asked (Volume of organization, Work Experience especially in water sectors). Part two is developed aiming to obtain the data which from respondents representing construction industry and consultant firms against the identified factor which are discussed later in this research, according to their occurrence, severity level, and their effects on cost of project and also required mitigations and suggestion is asked to overcome cost variation by these factors.

Objective

Recommendations
On the basis of analysis through gathered data, recommendation is given for minimizing the effects on cost produce by certain factors and there mitigations, also highly effecting factor with respect to cost is identified which will help in making decision for future water projects.
