We have eight Year 5 students preparing a speech on the leadership qualities they have and will demonstrate, that will make them great ambassadors for our school as student leaders. Best of luck to the following candidates: Molly Tanja Olivia Joshua Dion Jarrod Sam Riva Following the assembly, all students will return to their classroom to vote for one girl and one boy as their preferred student leader. Counting will commence immediately following the elections. A boy and girl captain and vice-captain will be announced on presentation night. Our captains and vice captains will lead the school’s student parliament that will be initiated in 2015. The student parliament will have ministries; possibly sport, technology, communication and the environment. Each ministry will have particular responsibilities. The students of 5/6 will form the student parliament and be a member of one of the ministries. Each term they will rotate to have a chance of participating in all ministries. This will empower our senior students to participate in decisions regarding the culture and tone of the school. Leisure Sports Update Leisure sports started brilliantly last Friday with all three groups thoroughly enjoying themselves. Our cyclists made it all the way to Vincentia and back. Our scooter group demonstrated their skills on an obstacle course set up on the basketball court. They also put on a display for our K/1 and 1/2 classes. Mrs Nyholm who has come back especially to teach the Hip Hop group was very pleased with our dancers. This week Leisure Sports will take a break while class 3/4 participate in the Junior GALA Day at Sussex Inlet. Leisure sports will resume the Friday fortnight (Week 8). In weeks 9 & 10 the second round of Leisure Sports will include fishing, cycling and tennis. Uniforms Just to clarify what is happening with uniforms. At this stage we are still discussing our options. Our survey did indicate that both parents and students would welcome a change. However this will take at least 12 months to start and two years to fully implement. So please when thinking of uniforms for 2015, it’s business as usual! Soccer Development workshops Mark Johnson (Development Officer) will conduct soccer sessions at the school starting this Thursday for all four classes. This is at no cost to the school or the students. K – 6 Enrolments Welcome If you know of someone looking for a new school ask them to come and have a chat with me about all that Huskisson Pubic School has to offer.
