Remember those old school days
when you are 85!
Last Friday our local public schools joined together in a street parade that culminated with a concert in Bain Park.
Byabarra, Beechwood, Comboyne, Huntingdon, Long Flat, Rollands Plains and Wauchope Primary Schools made
huge bunyip puppets that weaved their way through Friday shoppers. Each bunyip was escorted by a Wauchope
High School „bush fairy‟ as well as stilt walkers, clowns and other drama students.
Everyone who was in the park was treated to an amazing array of local public school talent and heard from both our
local School Director and the relieving North Coast Regional Director of School Education who commented on the
level of skill displayed by our students and staff.
Mrs Bush who helped organise the event said “This launch of our Bago Community of Schools is all about family,
colour and the celebration of our students and staff. It has been a great success in demonstrating to our local
community what young people and teachers can achieve as a team in our public schools?”

From the Principal
Junior School Uniform:
During 2011 our school P&C in conjunction with a joint parent and school based Uniform Committee conducted a full review of our current school uniform.
The review included conducting surveys of students, staff and parents. As a result of the uniform review it has been decided that in 2012 Wauchope High School will move towards adopting a new uniform.
It is important for the entire school community to realise that 2012 will be a transition year and it is quite appropriate for students to either wear the old uniform or the new uniform.
We would encourage all parents who are purchasing clothing for school to buy the new uniform and we expect that by 2013 all students will be dressed in the new uniform.
The new uniform can be purchased from the Wauchope High School P&C Uniform Shop; we are expecting the first delivery of shirts by Wednesday 7/12/11.
Junior boys and junior girls will have the same uniform, (girls retaining the choice to wear navy blue shorts or skirt). A photo of the new junior uniform is enclosed with this report, (see right), and parents are reminded that a colour copy of this newsletter is available on our web page, (an easy way to find the page is to Google “Wauchope High School”.

A huge thank you to Rod & Tanya
Newman and Brian & Coral Reis and
family for their generous donation of a
HD TV to our „Raffle for Rosie‟
Futsal Champions
Last week the 16yr Girls Futsal team travelled
north to play the final against the Maclean team
winning 4-6. The win saw the girls become the
North Coast Champions.
Congratulations to our team, who defeated
another Maclean team 2-5 to become the Under
14yr Girls North Coast Futsal Champions.
Thank you to Ms Keogh for her coaching skills.

If you dedicate your time to raising money for charity,
coach or referee a sporting team, give blood or are part
of an environmental group, cadets, SRC or other commu-
nity group, then you could earn yourself awards!
Year 9 students learnt all about the Premier‟s Volunteer-
ing Awards program last week when teacher, Jill Edding-
ton, visited the school. She discussed the importance of
volunteer work for our community, and society at large,
and how students can gain recognition for their good
work.
The Premier‟s Volunteering Awards program rewards
students who volunteer with certificates. These certifi-
cates are terrific for students entering the workforce,
demonstrating their commitment, selflessness and par-
ticipation to any potential employer.
HOW? If you are a student that volunteers, log on to the
Student Portal, click the link, „Programs‟, then „Other Pro-
grams‟ and finally, „Premier‟s Student Volunteering
Awards Program‟. You then enter what volunteer activity
you have completed, how many hours you have volun-
teered and find a teacher to confirm it. After 20hrs ser-
vice your certificate is in the mail!
Thanks to Mrs Quee for her organisation.
“I don‟t like cricket, oh no...”
Wauchope High‟s Under 14yrs Boys cricket
team played Camden Haven High in the
CHS knockout on Monday 7th following wins
against West Port and Coffs Harbour. Win-
ning the toss they elected to bat but were
unfortunately all out for 51 runs. Camden
Haven lost 6 wickets in reply with our team
doing some outstanding bowling taking 3 for
1 off 5 overs.
The Open Boys play Melville High next week
following a win against Port High in Round 2.
„Walk of Hope‟
Members of The Agel
Cares Foundation are

ticipate in a „Walk of Hope‟ on this Sunday 20th

give someone the gift of sight for Christmas.

Trivia Night for Rosie
The trivia night fundraiser held at Byabarra on
Saturday night to raise money for Rosie Attard
was a resounding success. Well done to the
organisers and all those who attended, raising
over $5000 on the night.
