From the Principal’s Desk At yesterday’s school assembly, I expressed my surprise at how fast the school year has gone. It is hard to believe that we are in our final three weeks of the 2019 school year. We have lots of end of year acvies that are sll to take place and teaching and learning connues in our classrooms. We are all very red and I know that we are looking forward to the break, however we remind students daily that we are not on holidays yet and we sll expect that they demonstrate safe, responsible and respecul behaviour. Bushfires in our Local Area I would like to take the opportunity to thank our parents for the support shown during the last two weeks, in regards to our school being non-operaonal due to the bushfire emergency in our local area. I know that it was a trying me parcularly when we were not informed of the outcome unl late each aſternoon. Thank you to our parents who promptly let us know that they had received the messages sent out, your response was greatly appreciated. I would like to thank Mrs Mac, who spent a lot of her family me in the evenings contacng families to ensure that they received the messages. Our friends at MacDonald Valley Public School have been non-operaonal this week and we have been accommodang them at our beauful school. Mrs Date and her team are very grateful that they have been able to come together at Wisemans and connue with their learning. From the Principal’s Desk

At yesterday’s school assembly, I expressed my surprise at how fast the school year has gone. It is hard to believe that we are in our final three weeks of the 2019 school year. We have lots of end of year activities that are still to take place and teaching and learning continues in our classrooms. We are all very tired and I know that we are looking forward to the break, however we remind students daily that we are not on holidays yet and we still expect that they demonstrate safe, responsible and respectful behaviour. Bushfires in our Local Area I would like to take the opportunity to thank our parents for the support shown during the last two weeks, in regards to our school being non-operational due to the bushfire emergency in our local area. Strong Nation Community We are still collecting items for the Strong Nation Community project, (formally, Hawkesbury Community Services). Strong Nation Community work together with other not-for-profit organisations to provide Christmas Hampers to families in need. It is not too late to donate items. If you would like to help out and donate items please drop them off at the school office by this coming Monday 2nd December. Tambar Springs Wisemans Ferry is helping out a small town like ours who are doing it tough in the bush. As you may be aware the wider community has been rallying around and collecting donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, dog food, chicken pellets etc. for the Tambar Springs community. There is a local small school in Tambar Springs who Gary Flower has made contact with and who we have also been in contact with. Tambar Springs Public School currently has an enrolment of five students (3 girls and 2 boys). As a school community we thought that if any family would like to donate stocking fillers or a suitable Christmas present for the children of Tambar Springs Public School and or their siblings that this might be a nice gesture. There is a 5 year old girl and boy; a 7 year old boy and an 8 year old girl and boy. Additionally, there is a 4 year boy and a 13 year old girl. I understand that we have already asked for donations for the Strong Nation Community and understand if the commitment is too great.

Kindergarten Orientation Our second Kindergarten Orientation was held last Monday afternoon. Students took part in craft activities and had a great time. They seem to have settled in well during their two visits, working with their buddies and becoming familiar with our beautiful school. Thanks to the fantastic Mrs Longhurst for all her hard work in organising activities during transition. It has been a valuable experience for the new kindergarten enrolments and their families. Swim School During week 8 and 9, all students will take part in our swim school program. Students will undertake one-hour lessons at The Retreat pool. We are very lucky that all students are able to participate in this vital program. Please ensure that your child comes to school each day ready to participate in the swim school program. Students will need to bring swimmers, towel, a plastic bag for wet clothes, underwear and a small bag to travel to the pool with. It is important that all items are clearly labelled. Swimming Carnival Our swimming carnival will be held on Friday December 13 at the Retreat pool. The carnival will take place from 9:30am and we expect that it will conclude by 2pm. We will be joined by our friends from MacDonald Valley and students in all grades will have the opportunity to swim. Parents are invited to join us on the day and we will certainly require parental assistance to help with the running of the carnival. For the students this is a normal school day and whilst some of our students may have their parents at the carnival to support them it is important to remember that on the day the teachers are responsible for the care of the students. It is important that the students are seated within the designated area on the day and that they are listening to and following teacher instructions. We look forward to enjoying this event with our students and their families.

Presentation Day As the school year ends, we have a number of important events on the calendar. One such event is our annual Presentation Day, which will take place on Wednesday December 11. This important day allows us to acknowledge the achievements of our students in 2019. We will also be announcing our 2020 Leadership body and acknowledging our year 6 students who are finishing their primary school education and moving onto high school. Please feel free to join us at this special occasion. After our ceremony, we will be providing a light supper in the annex. Mrs Deirdre Dorbis Principal
