Board Of Trustees News

BOT Meeting tonight 6.30pm Staffroom

What Could be Improved at Motupipi Feedback.

Here are more of the ‘What could be improved at Motupipi”

Communication about when the Board of Trustees meet .

Dates are always published in the school newsletter. The Board will report back in the newsletter after

each meeting with a summary of what has happened at the Board meeting.

School gates not closing properly.

ITM have been contacted to check all gates ensure they are self shutting. This includes the pool gate.

Beginning of year accounts to be sent out earlier.

Beginning of year accounts have been late. Improvement will be noted for 2014.

Use things other than lollies and food as a reward.

Lollies and food are rarely used as a reward as the main rewards are work published in newsletters, work

shared in front of class, work shared with other classes and the principal, verbal praise from teacher,

parents informed of fantastic work, rewards such as free choice of activity, choice of class game, class or

assembly certificates or stickers.

Solar heating for pool to be more efficient so kids have more swimming time.

A more efficient solar heating system would make swimming lessons more productive due to a consistency

in temperature however it would not prolong the swimming season. Swimming takes a huge amount of time

due to time needed for changing into and out of togs, the need for teaching to be in small groups and the

down time for children waiting for the swimming and the need to cover other areas of the curriculum. The

pool solar heating system will be looked at when we do our budgeting for 2014 next term.

Competition – not all children are competitive.

We encourage competition at Motupipi. Children don’t play chess, board games, sports or hide and seek to

come second, their aim is to win. When we play games and sport we encourage the children to play to win,

however we also encourage them to enjoy participating as well as being good winners and good losers.

What information is shared with for new families?

When families enrol their children at Motupipi they are generally taken on a tour of the school by the

principal and they are given an enrolment package ,which includes the School Charter, an Information

Booklet about the school as well as enrolment forms.

Board of Trustee minutes should be made more public.

The Board of Trustee minutes are always available in a folder at the office.
