Term 2 Week 6 West Wyalong Public School...especially their favourite "The Great Train Race"....

6
Welcome to week six and Winter! Last week our front office staff issued Departmental notices concerning students’ absences. We are aware that some parents had already notified the front office or the teachers the reason for their child’s absence. If this is the case, then please disregard the letter. These are generated letters that are printed off on a particular date which means there may be a crossover period where your information has been put in after the printout. Some parents have found the wording of the letter a little “abrupt”. Again, this is a letter generated by the Department; child absences from school are a serious and legal issue and this is an important message that needs to be delivered to all parents. This Friday we are participating in Pirate day- supporting child brain cancer research. Children are invited come to school in some form of pirate costume, they will all be given a pirate patch and we ask that all participating children donate a gold coin to this very worthwhile charity. Todd Woodbridge Tennis Last Monday, May 28th, Mrs Brown took four teams of excited students to the West Wyalong Tennis courts to play in the first round of the Todd Woodbridge Cup. Every student played non-stop tennis against other teams from Ungarie, Wyalong and St Mary’s. Many new skills were learned on the day and it was a great experience for the 3/4 students to have. All students displayed excellent sportsmanship and represented our school with pride. Particular mention to Jett Milsom who always took the time to show others how to serve the ball and encouraged them to do their best.

WWHS Musical Extravaganza:

we had about thirty students perform in this concert in six different items. Students were involved in our Vocal Group and Ukulele group performances as wells as the High School/Middle School Band and West Wyalong Town Band items. It was a huge night and our students were a credit to themselves, their families and our school! They were fabulous!

MusicaViva: our students are so lucky to have professional musicians come right to us to perform! Arcadia Wind Trio performed for us last Monday, with a show titled "The Air I Breathe". Students were very excited to see and hear these instruments up close after studying them in their music lessons this year, especially their favourite "The Great Train Race".

Riverina Combined Schools Concert Band Performance:

this amazing concert last Wednesday featured some of our very our musicians! 63 students from all over the Riverina came together for a music camp in Wagga for 5 days, enhancing their skills, learning new music and making new friends. Then they toured around performing for schools in our region for two days following the camp- West Wyalong was fortunate to be included in the tour this year! Annalise Bischoff, Claudia Hopper and Thomas Jordan-Downes from WWPS as well as Brent Russell and Jai Bischoff from WWHS were great ambassadors for West Wyalong during both the camp and the tour. Well done!
