Processing of Preliminary Subject indications. The College reserves the right of placement of students in courses in cases where: -

➢ Demand does not justify the running of a course. In some cases, composite classes may be created.

➢ There is excess demand for a course for which the College has no capacity to provide extra classes.

➢ The degree of difficulty of the course is deemed beyond the demonstrated ability of the candidate that is evidenced by Year 10 results.

➢ Consequently, all application forms received by the College are considered ‘preliminary indicators’, until such time as all the information regarding individual students and total course demand is available.

Words of Wisdom❖ What happens in Year 10 is significant in determining your future pattern of

study.

❖ Choose a pattern of study that suits you best and that is recommended to you.

❖ If you enrol in Studies of Religion, 2 unit or 1 unit, you are expected to work to your potential or you will be asked to move to Catholic Studies.

❖ Studies of Religion 2 unit is an excellent option as it means that it can be part of your 10 units that contribute towards your ATAR in the HSC.

❖ Studies of Religion 1 unit means that you can have 11 units for HSC and it may contribute to your ATAR if you do not do as well as you expect in another subject. In that case the lowest unit is split with one unit combined with one unit of Studies of Religion.

Other relevant informationWhen making subject selections check the entry requirements for the courses you may want to study at university. For example, check to see whether the entry requirements for a particular course have Chemistry or Physics as ‘assumed knowledge’ or ‘prerequisite’.

This will help to determine what Science is necessary to study in Years 11 and 12.

Websites such as UAC http://www.uac.edu.au/ may be helpful in working out university course requirements.
