Dear friends in Christ,

Aft er the fi rst International Conference of Teresa Charities in 2015 two great events have occurred:

1. Th e Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life from the Vatican has invited us to build up the Family of Saint Th erese in the International level in fi ve years.

2. Th e Canonization of St Louise Martin and Zelie Martin the Parents of Saint Th erese of the Child Jesus.

Th e gate for Our Mission to the future has opened wide. Th ese are the clear evidences:

• Th e presences of many members from diff erent parishes, in diff erent countries especially the couples who would like to follow the footsteps of the newly couples Saints,• Th e establishment of some new communities especially the Consecrated Community of• St Th erese in Paris.• Th ousands of people around the world have accepted the invitation of Deacon Vu in FaceBook to join in Mission to serve the elderly.

We can hope that if we steadfast in developing our current mission in serving the elderly we will success and the Family of Saint Th erese will be offi cial recognized as an International Association of the Catholic Church. Most of all each one of us can hope to be blessed with sanctifi cation graces in the Family of St Th erese.

RETURNING TO THE ROOTS:THE CHARISMATIC VISION OF THE FOUNDER

We exist to evangelize!

Th is is one of the strong statements in the Church encyclical that inspires us to move on. To move on means to step forward with the memory of the past, the awareness of the present realities and the vi-sion of the future. In this juncture, I would like to greet the Family of St Th eses of the Child Jesus in this memorable 2nd International Conference of the Family with the tone, “Building up the Family.”

A family has the sense of belongingness. It has its own identity, charism and spirituality. To be with the family is to feel the presence of acceptance and love. With is love, we are urged to go to the mission of loving. Charity is the base line of all our eff orts. And this is how the family keeps intact – the bond of fraternity.

Building up a family is to allow ourselves to become channels of God’s love. To be a channel of love is not to deviate from the vision of the Founder which comes from the spiritual inspiration and revelation. By founder, I mean the branch that links us from the inspiration of St Th erese of the Child Jesus through the person that invites us to form a family which carries the mission to return to God or the very moment of conversion. We belong to the family that will give birth to members that would become the foundation of faith, channels of love, and bearers of hope. Th e Family of St Th erese of the Child Jesus is urged to live a life of prayer, ministry and community. Th is is an invitation to adore God, to accompany His fl ock, and to live as community of disciples. Th is is evangelization in today’s context!

Th us, to the members, volunteers, benefactors, and friends of the Family of St. Th erese of the Child Jesus, let us return to the roots of our very foundation and be agents of its growth.

God bless you all.

To the Family of St. Th erese of the Child Jesus:

Peace of Christ!

Th e 2nd International Conference of the Family of St. Th erese of the Child Jesus in the Philippines is a sign of the Holy Spirit’s movement in this association. Coming together to share about the various experiences and programs of the diff erent members allow us to sense how the Spirit is inspiring people to act with mercy and compassion towards the elderly and the poor sectors of society.

Th is gathering invites the members to discern more deeply on how the association be or-ganized more eff ectively so that the charism received by the founder be transmitted and realized in the mission of caring for the poor and the elderly.

It is my prayer that as the association expands to various countries; the whole world will be set on fi re with God’s love.

One in Christ,

February 5, 2018

Dear friends in Christ,

It was by the grace of God that I was able to attend the International Conference of Teresa Charities held in Manila, Philippines in 2017.

I had the pleasure of meeting so many brothers and sisters dedicated to Th e Family of Saint Th erese of Th e Child Jesus. From the Philippines to Viet Nam and around the world, Th e Family of Saint Th erese is growing at an un-believable rate.

It was also an honor to accept the challenge of being named Vice President of the Board of Spiritual Directors, Family of Saint Th erese of Th e Child Jesus.

From the time Salisa Bana School, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo and headquartered in Portland, Oregon became a member of Teresa Charities, we have seen a tremendous growth of Congolese brothers and sis-ters being helped with food and spiritual needs.

Today, at our school we have over 300 students, 20 staff personnel and the school continues to grow. Teresa Char-ities has provided more than 4,000 senior citizens with rice, prayer and someone to talk too. We are not only providing an education and food to the most forgotten brothers and sisters in Congo, but much needed jobs for those whom we employee.

God has been good to us. We struggle from time to time making ends meet, but it all seems to come together with prayer and God’s help.

We can hope that our mission in Congo and the mission of Teresa Charities, serving children and the elderly will continue to grow. We pray that the Family of Saint Th erese will be offi cial recognized as an International Associa-tion of the Catholic Church. And most of all, we pray that God will protect all who are forgotten in our world and those who are being called by God to take care of them. May the Family of St Th erese maintain hope and be blessed with the graces of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Blessings to all.

(SIGNED) REV. DEACON JAMES PITTMAN Chair of Salisa Bana School Vice President of the Board of Spiritual Directors, Family of Saint Th erese of Th e Child Jesus

3. Cambodia (Reported by Br. Nguyen Tan Hoang Phuc, OFM)

Establishment:

In July of 2010, the Province of Saint Francis in Vi-etnam started its mission in Cambodia. Th ree Vietnamese Friars, named Joseph Vuong Do Duc, John the Baptise Dung Dau Tien, and Anthony Bien Tran Van, came and started liv-ing at the sub-parish TualKrosang, Kandal, Cambodia.

Th e sub-parish Tualkrosang, belonging to Apostolic Vicariate Phnom Penh, has been run by a priest named Peter

Tinh Le Van. It is about 20 kilometers far from Phnom Penh, and is about 70 kilometers from the border gate KhanhBinh, Long Binh ward, An Phu, An Giang, Vietnam.

From the beginning of presence of the Vietnamese friars in Cambodia, the bishop Oliver Schmitthaeusler (MEP) of Apostolic Vicariate Phnom Penh allowed them do their ministries in three sub-parishes: Bungchuck, Tualkrosang, and Saang.

While doing ministries for Vietnamese people there and doing mission for Khmer people, Vietnamese friars saw a very diffi cult situation of Vietnamese people there. Many Vietnamese families are poor. Some of them have been living in a houseboat or settling along riversides. Th ey usualy have unstable jobs, such as construction laborer and helper jobs, or collecting wastes and selling them. Th is situation has been strongly aff ecting their chil-dren’s educations. Many Vietnamese children there cannot go to a school or quit school very soon because of their coming from the poor families.

Th erefore, Vietnamese friars had a strong desire of gathering children in the area to teach them Vietnamese language and Khmer (or Cambodian) language, basic principles in family and social relationships, and Catechism. Th e fi ars told their idea to the paster Peter Tinh Le Van. He willingly approved the idea for he had had the same idea and had gathered children to help them. Unfortunately, his project did not last long because of his business of ministries for a parish which has 6 sub-parishes.

In August of 2011, the paster together with Vietnamese friars founded a youth group named “Th e Simple Way of Saint Teresa of Child Jesus” (also called Teresa group). So far, Teresa group has had 45 members: 7 members coming from sub-parish Bungchuck, 15 from Tualkrosang, and 23 from Saang.

Ministries:

• Becoming the salt of the earth and the light of the world• Doing small things with great love• Living together in peace between Viet and Khmer

Th e fund of the group has come from two sources:

• Receiving 500 to 1000 Riel from each member of the group weekly (1Usd = 4000 Riel).• Receiving supports and contributions from Teresa Charities monthly

A desire for the future:

9. India

India ringing in the road to Holiness

Santhosha Jangam Kumari is a lawyer and preacher. She is an an advocate for the poor, sick and elderly of India. She fi ghts for human rights, abused children and women especially from being persecuted by Hindus. She was inspired by her father , Matthew Jangam, who left his profession as a doctor to follow the footsteps of our Lord. He began preaching the word of God through Church Bible Mission.

She takes the cudgels of the Dalits or untoucha-bles especially the widows of India. In the year 2014, Te-resa Family knocked on her doorstep and she was chosen to spread the example of St Th erese of child Jesus to the Dalits.

Th e Dalits consisting of very poor widows and couples were so taken by the monthly rice distribution to 50 families that in the following two years we expanded our breadth of services from 50 elders to 100 benefi ciar-ies and their families. Our mission will not be complete without the assistance of Santhosha mother,Kamala Ku-mari Jangam , the spiritual director of the Church Bible Mission aft er her husband had a heart attack and died preaching the word. She is also helped by her son who is a preacher. His name is Jaya Raju Jangam, Santhosha younger brother , thus she came from a pious family sim-ilar to the Martins.

Th e support of two aspirants, Saarampaati Praha Vathi and Nukaratnam Sarampati , is invaluable since they distribute rice, they cook , clean the houses of elderly. Administer medicine and assist them in walking and going to church and also recite the rosary, Divine mercy creed, and also read passages in the Bible for sharing and

refl ection during monthly prayer meetings that has now de-veloped into a spiritual retreat monthly.

Th e recent development is so moving as we have several new people converted into the faith as shown in photos last monthTh e priest and pastor is Jaya Raju Jangam as they have their ceremonial baptism in the river the way Saint John baptized Jesus in River Jordan.

Santhosha is advocating for a health center in India which the people badly need. Th ey have no government aid to cure glaucoma, pneumonia and other respiratory diseas-es. Th ese people are so poor making only a dollar a day tor about 61 rupees . Th ese people do not have medical insur-ance to rely on and go to hospital to get proper care and nutrition. . When their family cannot support them , they become burdens of society and they wanted to be self suffi -cient and productive citizens . Th ey long to thrive in small scale livelihood business, like chicken and poultry raising , rice planting, garden and nursery development , candle and craft making . among others.

Despite this cherished dreams, they are thankful for aid showered by Teresa Family and by the way the Martins family have stoically sacrifi ced when they lost their four children and when both zelie and then Louis were gravely Ill yet their faith and love have transcended all suff erings and sorrows. . Th e joy of salvation and fi nding the home in heaven is the ultimate jgoal for these people who fi ght and stand against persecution from the hard core extremists of Hinduism in their country.

Samalkot is a little town of 7022 people in Southern India which is six hours away from Bangalore Airport yet St Th erese has touched the people there and they realizes and thanked the family of Saint Th erese. Th ey be-lieved we are their lifesaver and we are angels doing their job on earth. It is possible that little miracles can relate ripples of hope, love and joy to all so we could continue our journey of holiness in the village of Samalkot.

CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF MOSHI,P. O. BOX 3041,MOSHI, TANZANIA EAST AFRICA. My name is Father Gaudence Ngufuyamonyi, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Moshi Tanzania. I am the Coordinator and Spiritual director of the family of St. Th erese of the Child Jesus in Moshi Diocese- Tanzania. Th e mission of this family started in 2015. As a newly ordained priest I was assigned to work at Mahida Parish. Th e parish is situated in low land areas where many people are peasants. Th ey depend on rain to get products from their small farms. Because of climatic fl uctuation in several times and lack of rain, many people are poor. As a result the elders and the sick are mostly aff ected by this situation because they can not move far for job and fi nd their food.

With pastoral zeal as a new priest I used to visit families for sacraments and pastoral advice. I used to meet many poor elders in the families while the young have migrated to other areas to seek their food especially in

towns leaving the elders in poor condition. I used to help these poor elders spiritually, that is giving them sacra-ments and encourage them to depend on God in their situation and their old age. But food was a diffi cult problem to tackle for me. Th inking and praying on how I should help these poor elders about food, I came to contact with Deacon An Vu , the founder of the Family of St. Th erese. He agreed to support me in the distribution of rice every month. He encourages me and teaches me on how I should organize the local people to support in this monthly distribu-tion of rice. From this time the mission started. By this time we have 70 poor elders. I work closely with Catechist Simon Mtaresi and other seven lay members of the board.

Deacon An Vu sends money for the support of rice distribution every month. We are so grateful to our deacon An Vu and the mission of St. Th erese. We see God’s hand working via him and his mission. We can see how God provide food to his people using people from our far and near. Th us our Activities are: Distribution of rice to our poor elders every month. We gather at the parish during distribution. Th ose elders who are sick and can’t come we used to visit them at their huts.

Another activity is spiritual assistant to the poor elders. We help them to live sacramental life, Eucharist and Confession. We have time for bible reading and sharing the word of God every month. We teach them cat-echesis to deepen their faith and love to God.

We help them to fi nd the meaning of life at their old age, to see life as a gift from God. We encourage them to live prayer life including praying rosary daily! We also provide blankets, sheets and mattress to few of them (because of shortage of money we cannot provide for many) those who are in bad condition than others. We also gather with the members of St. Martin encouraging the couples to imitate the life of the parents of St. Th erese. We thank God for this mission! We always pray for our founder of this mission Deacon An Vu. May God bless us always, help us to love and work for our poor elders and for our own salvation.

Th e Awakening Walk of Holiness

It was the canonization of Saint Zelie and Saint Louis Martin , the parents of Saint Th erese, as the “ fi rst holy pair of saints “ on October 18, 2015, that planted the mustard seed in the hearts and minds of Teresa Family mem-bers to organize, prepare and launch successfully the Saint Louis and Saint Zelie Recognition Retreat last July 23, 2016 . We awarded 11 living couples who exhibit the virtues and character of guiding the family to a life of holiness and unconditional love in this modern society bombarded by bustle of materialism, power self -centeredness and greed.

Aft er the amazing retreat highlighted by the graceful and charismatic presentation Deacon Harold Burke- Sivers preserving the sanctity and convening of marriage today and in nurturing our relationship with God through prayer, fasting , sacrifi ce and love for each other. It was followed up by a second retreat in October 8, 2016 and this time it awarded living couples as well as cited deceased couples since Deacon An Vu, founder and the Teresa Family members believe that we are all “saints in the making”. Our fl awed perfection is sullied by stress and can be purifi ed by the “lift ” or elevator by putting God fi rst in our lives, loving others, giving ourselves to others through corporeal acts of mercy, participating in parish activities and evangelizing others through God’s words and His example.

Th ere were 20 living couples who were present and 11 deceased couples who were extolled and given awards accepted by their family members. In addition , 29 living couples who were invited yer unable to attend was awarded for all hard work and love they show to their families, parish and their community.

In 2017, we revised the rules to include and encompass single, widowed and married individuals who have walked in the light of God and have exhibited a steadfast life of prayer, love and charity for others.

Th e retreat was a success last October 29,2017at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish . We have awarded ten indi-viduals and it was a very inspiring retreat with the talk given by Deacon Jose Gonzalez and Bonnie Custer.

Th e feedback of attendees have shown a consensus of engaging the younger generation to attend and be involved in their parishes and community especially the generation x Generation Y and millennials.

We all share this undivided goal to inspire all ,young and old, to be establish, grow and seek a deeper and meaningful relationship with God the way Saint Th erese, her four sisters , Pauline, Louise, Lennie and Celine has followed the footsteps of their parents, Saint Louis and Saint Zelie .who has led their children to live holy lives and set the bar in following God’s will and showing loving service to all.

It also reinforces the members, awardees and their families to lead the way for unbelievers, cynics, doubt-ers that there is a God and that we are all dynamic Catholics positively ready to set the fi re of evangelization and conquer the hearts and minds of all through the boundless love and sacrifi ce we have shown to be open to all who need to know how deep the love of God has enriched our day to day journey toward holiness as we we love and treat one another as family in Christ.

2018 is a promising year as we encourage and reach out not just Catholics but all peoples of diff erent faiths

a. Th e process of establishment Th anh Hoa Teresa family was founded by Fr. Anthony Vu DucTu on October 1, 2006 in Trung Son ward, Sam Son town, Th anh Hoa province, Viet Nam. Th anh Hoa Teresa Family belongs to Sam Son parish, Th anh Hoa diocese. Th e fi rst two members of the Family are sisters Mary Trinh Th i Mac and Teresa Tran Th iVui.

In this time, the members of the Family increased up to 6 single women. Besides, there were more married women participated in visiting and sharing gift s for the old people in Th anh Hoa province. Th e fi rst house of Th e-resa Family was also built on September, 2007 and inaugurated on August 15, 2008. From here, these single women regarded the house as their “congregation”. In the inauguration day, Joseph Nguyen Chi Linh, the Bishop of Th anh Hoa diocese sanctifi ed and blessed sisters as well as the house.

Bishop Joseph Nguyen Chi Linh appreciated the eff ort and work of sisters of the Th eresa Family. It was very necessary and not any congregation in Th anh Hoa diocese could do it. Th erefore, on November 17th 2011, Bishop Nguyen Chi Linh celebrated the Holy Eucharist for the fi rst profession of sisters in Th uongChieu parish. He announced the document to recognize Th anh Hoa Th eresa Family as “private association” of parishioners.

Aft er this event, the Th eresa Family had 11 single women. On October 30th 2012, Most Rev. Joseph Nguyen Chi Linh once again celebrated the mass for the fi rst profession of some sisters. On June 1st 2012, it was a big sur-prise to the Family that the Bishop decided to hand over QuanXa parish to renew, manage and use for the purpose of the Family. Th is place has been considered the mother house of Vietnamese Th eresa Family. From here, the door of destiny of the Th eresa Family will open to a brighter future.

• + In the diocese of Vinh Long: 6 times

We are happy to be connected with the international association of Th eresa Charity Family in the activities of lay apostolates and service to the poor. We give special thanks to Deacon Vu Th anh An and the Organization Team for giving fund and supporting the Th eresa family of Vinh Long.

20. Hue

a. Th e history of the establishment of the Th eresa Family of Hue Th e Family was founded by Deacon Vu Th anh An and it has started its charitable works in the diocese of Hue in 2004. Aft er 7 years, this Family bas brought so many useful contributions to the diocese. On November 5th 2011, Archbishop Nguyen Nhuthe signed the letter and recognized the Family as a private association of the faithful in the diocese of Hue city.

In 2013, Archbishop agreed to be a spiritual director of the Family to this day. Our mission statement is to serve the elders: especially those who are living in poor and soli-darity state of life, without distinction of their own religion.

From 2006-2008, this Family has provided at least 10 kilogram of rice for over 3000 elders monthly. Its fund has come from local priests, religious sisters, benefactors and vol-unteers in the diocese. b. Lazarus association On July 2007, Lazarus association was established in the diocese of Hue. Th is group has 9 religious sisters, taking care of approximately 200 elders in Quang Tri and Hue provinces. Th eir responsibilities are to visit and help the elders in bathing, washing clothes, providing meals, cleaning and praying with them. Above all, they love these elders with all their hearts and consider them as their parents. Everyday these sisters traveled dozen of kilometers to bring rice, milk, fi sh sauce or sometimes money to the elders who are in need. In the winter, they also have brought many blankets and warm clothes to them. In serving these elders and those in need they realized that they are serving god through them. Th ey fulfi l the scriptural verse “whatever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters that you do unto me.”

c. Opening Orphan Children Program On March 2007, Deacon Vu Th anh An visited Hue and met Father Joseph, a retired priest who was in charge of Caritas (Charity) organization of the diocese. Father Joseph invited Deacon Vu Th anh An to the Dawn House, where he sheltered the orphaned by birth. Deacon Vu could not hold his tears when he witnessed these orphaned newborns. With this in mind, he went home and prayed. Aft er that, he called a meeting with his ben-efactors to support his idea. Finally, they opened widely their arms to welcome 5, one month newborn orphans to their house. Despite knowing that to raise a child is not easy, they believe that God would help and provide everything to bringing up those newborns.

d. Th eresa Martin Family in Hue On October 18th 2015, Deacon Vu Th an An established the Th eresa Martin Family with the idea of setting Th eresa’s parents as a great example for all families. Living a holy life in the midst of diffi culty, diligently attending mass and praying every day, fulfi lling the duties as parents under any circumstances and entrusting everything to God’s providence.

Th e Family is composed of 1 spiritual father and 30 members, serving in 5 parishes. Although it has been established over one year, its activities have not been carried out regularly due to the lack of spiritual promulgation. However, we see that the Th eresa Martin Family is vey ideal for all families living in Hue city.

e. Th e stabilization of activities In order to stabilize all activities mentioned above for a long term in Hue, we need fi nancial support for each group, so that they can operate and work independently. Th erefore, in the past years, Deacon Vu and many benefactors had contributed an enormous amount of money. With this amount, we bought land and built three buildings for renting in Hue City. We also had 30,000 meters of acres for planting trees and 600 meters of acres in Binh Th anh province. Th is land is intended to build house for 5 children in the future.

Moreover, we have two vehicles: a long van with 16 seats and a motorcycle for serving purpose in Hue city. However, we are still lacking fi nancial support. We come up with the idea to borrow money from benefactors with-out monthly interest. From that we may be able to provide food, shelters and comfortable life for al elders including physical and spiritual needs.

THE MOTHER OF PRIEST

Dear father Hail Mary full of Grace, Blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus!

Blessed is fruit of your mother’s womb: YOU , father! Th e Church honors Our Lady, who is the Mother of Our Lord Jesus.

May I humbly recommend that the Church will honor your mother who gives birth to you, a Priest, the minister of our Lord who is risen.

Christ is the source of all priesthood: Th e priest of old law was a fi gure of Christ, and the priest of new law acts in the person of Christ. (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

Honoring the parent of priest is not only a mission but also a duty. Without priest there is no Church.

Saint Mary is the Mother of God, Mother of the High Priest. Your mother is the Mother of Priest! Priest is a fi gure of Christ who acts in the person of Christ so the Mother of Priest in some way shares the ministry of Saint Mary!

Th e Mother of Priest has an unique role in the Church and she should be recognized solemnly! How the Saints pay respects to Our Lady in Heaven, the faithful should do the same to the Mother of Priest here on earth! From eternity our Lord has chosen the Priests for his sacrifi cial Ministry and at the same time chose their parents.

Th is man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible, not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him aft er he rose from the dead.( Act 10 ( 40-41)

Th e Family of Priests and their parents in someway has the same characters of the tribe of Levi which has been set apart for liturgical service. So, the parents of priest should be recognized separately. Even I am but a sinner, may I propose that:

the Church establishes the Title Mother of Priest and recognizes publicly all the parents of clerics in Holy Orders: Bishops, Priests and Deacons for all that they have sacrifi ced for the Church and let them take their special role in their Congregations.

Th is recognition is once for eternity!

When we recognize a Catholic Family, we remind everybody of their role in the Church.

1. Th e Family of St. Mary & St. Joseph includes Th e parents of Clerics ( Bishops + Priests + Deacons):

a. St Mary, the Mother of the High Priest, Our Lord Jesus is full of grace. Th e mother of a priest, the fi gure of Christ, could have the same grace as St Mary. Th ey are spiritually richer than all of other mothers. Th ey could share this grace to the poor when being asked. Th e faithful must know this so that they could come to mother of priest to ask for grace.

b. St. Mary intercedes for the faithful so the mother of a priest could have the capacity of interceding for the faithful. Th ey must know this duty so that they could intercede for the faithful who come to ask them. Th e faithful must know this capacity so that they could come to a mother of a priest to ask for interceding.

2. Th e Family of Levi includes the parents of Religious brothers and Sisters. Member of Levi tribe are set aside to worship:

In the Book of Numbers the Levites were charged with ministering to the Kohanim (priests) and keeping watch over the Tabernacle:2 And with you bring your brother also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may join you and minister to you while you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony.3 Th ey shall keep guard over you and over the whole tent, but shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary or to the altar lest they, and you, die.4 Th ey shall join you and keep guard over the tent of meeting for all the service of the tent, and no outsider shall come near you.5 And you shall keep guard over the sanctuary and over the altar, that there may never again be wrath on the people of Israel.6 And behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the people of Israel. Th ey are a gift to you, given to the Lord, to do the service of the tent of meeting. Numbers 18:2-6 (ESV)

Th e parent of religious must know their role so that they could take part in worshiping activities in the Church. Th e Church should give opportunities for the Family of Levi to be a part of worshiping ministry.Th e Members of the Family of Levi could intercede for the faithful when being asked. Th e faithful must know the capacity of the Family of Levi so that they could come to ask for interceding.3. Th e Family of St Louise & St Zelie Martin includes the catholic couples who have the same characters as that of St. Louise & Zelies Martin:

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lamp stand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. Matthew 5-14,15,16

Th e Catholic Families who have been recommended like the bright lamps. Th ey must be put in the high lamp stand giving light to all the church. Recognizing these families is the opportunity for the whole community re-ceiving their light. By this recognizing we glorify God the Creator of Heaven and earth.

DRAFT OF STATUTE OF MARTINS FAMILY

I. SPIRITUALITY

On October 18, 2015, the Church sanctified Louis Martin and Zélie Guérin, parents of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus. When sanctifying a couple of nine children, the Church wants to reaffirm the call to holiness not only for priests, religious, but for all Christians. In the Apostolic Exhortation, John Paul II recalled: “The universal vocation of all is also aimed at both you and the Christian parents: to them, this vocation is marked by the sacramental celebration of the Matrimony and exalted by the instrument in real life of marriage and family life. It is in that life that grace arises and we recognize the demand for a genuine and profound spiritual marriage and family spirituality; This spirituality is inspired by themes of creation, covenant, cross, resurrection, and sacramental sign”1. Spirituality is the path of holiness for each of the different states. If the priests and religious are called to sanctify the religious life, the laity are also called to sanctity according to marriage and family life. The spiritual foundation for holiness in this state of life is the sacrament of matrimony. 1. The call to holiness in marriage

Follow the Little Way of Love of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus and follow the example of St. Louis Martin and ZélieGuérin.

a. Sanctify yourself Each member of the Martin family sanctifies himself by: - Living the Gospel of becoming like a child, in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven2. - Receiving the Sacraments especially the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. - Voluntarily practicing the daily sacrifices and sacrifices of family life in the spirit of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, that is doing trivial things with great affection which means taking advantage of all the little things. And do all for love3. - Living the the spirit of peace and forgiveness, especially the practice of the concrete love of St. Teresa, who lived a passionate love for God and for everyone: “In the midst of the Church I will be love.”4

b. Sanctify Family Family life is both a practical way for the members of the Martin family to sanctify themselves, as well as the first environment to be an apostle. Following the example of the St. Louis Family and ZélieGuérin, each member of the Martin Family tries to build a 2 Mt 18,3. 3x. Huong Viet, Truyện Một Tâm Hồn, Tôn Giáo, Hà Nội 2008, tr.392. 4Ibid.

family into a miniature Church, by living the life of faith, the life of prayer, the life of love and by becoming witnesses following these three requirements: - Observance of God's law and Church’s law about family life, especially fidelity to the Marriage Covenant, generously welcoming, communicating and protecting life with a sense of responsibility. - Living the youthful spirit of surrendering to God's providential love for the needs of life as well as for the joyful or sad events of family life. - Fulfilling human education, faith and culture for children.

c. Sanctifying the world The discovery of oneself and of the family must contribute to the sanctification of the world from within5, and the consecration of the world to God6 by bringing the spirit of the Gospel into the social realities, economic life, culture ..., starting from his hamlet or neighborhood. 2. Apostolic Vocation - The fundamental apostolate is the very witness of the life of the Christian in the world, building the spirit of unity and forgiveness in the parish. - Joining the Martin family are families who try to reach Christian perfection and are willing to commit 5Lumen Gentium, 31. 6Lumen Gentium, 34.
