Last night the teaching staff undertook First Aid training for the school environment with the team from Positively First Training.

The course was very practical, hands on and packed with information.

A reminder that the school will be closed on Friday, 1 June as teachers undertake a professional

development day. The teachers will be visiting some local schools in the morning before working with an external facilitator - Brooke Trenwith who has a range of expertise including developing learner

agency and extending students . We are delighted to have her join us for this day and for two subsequent professional development sessions with our staff.

PMP Parent Information Afternoon

On Wednesday, 30 May, Nicky Durkin and Greg Sullivan will be holding an information session on PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) for parents of children in New Entrants and Year 1. PMP is a structured program focused on developing the pre-requisite skills needed for formal learning.

The first of the Year 5 and 6 winter exchanges took place on Tuesday against Kings School, St Michaels

School and Victoria Avenue School. Although only a couple of weeks into the term and with only a

couple of practices under the team’s belts, they all performed very well as well as being fantastic

sportspeople and ambassadors for the school. The next exchange will be on Tuesday, 29 May.

The results are as follows:

In November 2017, over 200 students from Meadowbank School sat the YCT Level 1 and 2 exams. YCT

(Youth Chinese Test) is an international Chinese language test which is administered by the Confucius

Institute. Meadowbank is the first and the only school in New Zealand to have over 200 students sitting

the test.

Students from Meadowbank have been working very hard to prepare for the test and they have

achieved some fantastic results. Last Friday at the school assembly students were congratulated. Four

students achieved full marks and thirteen students achieved 90% and above. These top achievers

received awards from CI Deputy Director Mr Bing Zhou and Exam Coordinator Ms Meiju Wang. Both

students and their parents were thrilled about their achievements and acknowledged the valuable

opportunity of learning the Chinese language and culture at Meadowbank School.
