THE SONGS OF CHRISTMAS Joy To The World Matthew 2, Luke 2
Sunday, December 22, 2019 HAPPINESS OR JOY?
The Greek word for happiness is ________________.
Happiness is related to the ________________ around you.
“When times are good be happy. But when times are bad consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.” Ecclesiastes 7:14 “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.” When I’m unhappy I ________________.
When I’m happy I ________________.
The Greek word for joy is ________________.
Joy is connected to what is happening ________ you rather than what is happening ________________ you. Happiness is never mentioned in the Christmas story but joy is mentioned ________ times. “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy or all the people.” Luke 2:10 “After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.” Matthew 2:9, 10
WHEN I AM OVERJOYED IT WILL OVERFLOW IN…
________________
“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary and they bowed down and worshiped him” Matthew 2:11 ________________
“Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11 ________________
“And after having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.” Matthew 2:12
