INTENSIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Through rigorous coursework in small classes and dynamic extracurricular activities, the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) prepares students to achieve their English proficiency goals for academic and professional purposes, as well as for everyday life skills.

• 21 hours of classwork per week in writing, reading, listening and speaking at multiple levels of proficiency from beginner to advanced.• Year-round 7-week sessions that provide the flexibility to advance more quickly as proficiency improves.• Targeted enrichment courses that improve specific skills, such as pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, or grammar.• A variety of short courses where students use practical English in a relaxed environment. Students

will watch and discuss movies, learn English through volunteering, practice American idioms and slang, and more!

ORIENTATION AND ACTIVITIES• New Student Orientation: Get the information and support you need to get started. • Conversation Partners: Practice your English and meet Americans in an informal setting.• Cultural and Social Activities: Connect to other students and to the university through specially arranged activities.• Homestay Program: Live in a homestay while you study and experience American family life.

Only have a short amount of time to devote to language study? Join one of the IELP’s Special Programs, designed for students who have specific needs or interests, wish to improve their English skills in a shorter time, or would like to increase their cultural knowledge.

4-WEEK SUPER-INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM Dates: July 7 - August 6, 2016 (4 weeks)Cost: $1,975

If you only have a short time to devote to language study and wish to improve your English in an immersion environment, this super-intensive program is for you. Improve your English reading, writing, listening and speaking in these stimulating and challenging courses. Open to all students who will have completed high school. ADVANCED ACADEMIC ENGLISH FOR GRADUATE STUDENTSDates: July 11 - August 5, 2016 (4 weeks)Cost: $1,975

As an international graduate student, you must succeed in advanced coursework while functioning at a high level in English. Join this program to fine-tune your writing skills, improve your pronunciation and presentation skills, and bridge the gap between everyday English proficiency and the academic English needed to succeed in your field. Philadelphia is rich in history and the culture, and summer is an exciting time to enjoy the vibrant arts scene in the city. Join us in exploring outdoor music and arts festivals, extensive public art, and some of the greatest cultural treasures in the world while you immerse yourself in English. You will improve your reading, listening and speaking and learn how to write a college application essay and prepare a portfolio or audition for university admission in the arts. Open to students 15-17 years old. Cost includes room, board, class materials, all activities and local & regional transportation.

Enroll in this exciting 4-week program to improve your English and learn about life in the United States. Spend mornings building your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Take trips to explore historic, artistic and contemporary Philadelphia and its surrounding region in the afternoons. Open to all students who will have completed high school.
