Here you will find folders with templates using the:

Volvo Spread Word Mark

Volvo Penta Spread Word Mark

Each folder contains three files that can be opened in

three different versions of InDesign. There is also a low

resolution, pdf-file as reference.

See examples of folder and file names on this page.

• Open the InDesign file by clicking on it.

• Save your InDesign file (ctrl+S for PC users and cmd+S for mac users).

In the InDesign template there are four windows

that you will need access to:

Pages

Layers

Paragraph Styles

Swatches

You will need these when creating the layout, adding

text or using colors.

On the following pages you will find basic information

about the content in the windows.

Windows that should be openMake sure to always have these windows available by selecting them from the Window menu.

Where to find and open windowsIf any of the windows are closed, you can open them from the Window menu.

Here you will find Master pages with the different

color versions of the Volvo logotypes inserted for

a few standard options. These masters can be used

for various layouts.

Change a page or apply a new pageThis example shows the Master pages from an Ads template with the Volvo Penta Spread Word Mark logotype.

Master pages exampleThis example shows Master pages from a Brochure template with the Volvo Spread Word Mark logotype.

Drag and drop the Master page on to the page you wish to change.

You can also drag and drop a Master page to insert a new page. Make sure to drop the Master page before or after an existing page.

How to unlock frames in Master pages When a Master page is applied, the frames with, for example a headline, is locked. To unlock press shift + ctrl for PC user and shift + cmd for mac users.

The layers in the Volvo templates are unlocked as

default, but you can easily lock or hide any of them.

Layers window exampleIn the Layers window you will find predefined layers. You can hide, lock or add layers.

Lock or/and hide layersAll layers are unlocked in the template, but you can choose to lock or/and hide them.

If you want to lock a layer, click to right of the eye symbol.

If there is a layer that you also wish to hide and not see or use, click on the eye symbol.

In the Paragraph Style window there are predefined

text options to choose from. These can be changed in

the toolbar at the top.

Paragraph Style window exampleThe predefined paragraph styles contains basic settings for e.g. headlines, sub-headings and body copy.

Adjust text formatsIf you need to adjust something in the text formats, for example reduce a heading, it can be done in the toolbar at the top. If you want to change back to the original paragraph format settings, right-click and select ”Clear Overrides”.

In the Swatches window you will find two folders:

Volvo Main colors and Volvo Accent colors.

The Volvo Main colors should be used to position

the Volvo brand.

The Volvo accent colors should always be used as

supporting colors and never dominate a layout.

NOTE: The color swatches in the Volvo templates are CMYK codes for usage in printed material. RGB colors codes for digital usage can be found at: www.volvogroup.com/identity

Swatches windowThe colors in swatches are CMYK codes to be used in printed material. Each color should be used in 100% only, in order to secure consistency.

Usage of fill or strokeWhen using a color, make sure to select fill for backgrounds and stroke for lines.
