Paper title (16 pt Times New Roman bold)

Abstract (12 pt Times New Roman bold)

Papers on all aspects of civil engineering are acceptable. The second page must contain the

title of the paper (without the authors' names), abstract, keywords and the first part of the

paper. The paper must be preceded by an abstract in which the author will briefly describe the

theme treated, the purpose of the research, procedures applied, and results obtained and major

conclusions. An abstract is often presented separately from the paper, so it must be able to

stand alone. For this reason, References should be avoided in the abstract. Also, non-standard

or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential, they must be defined at their

first mention in the abstract itself. The abstract should not exceed 150 words.

Keywords: the author must provide a maximum of 6 keywords. Only abbreviations firmly

established in the field may be eligible within the keywords. Keywords should appear in

alphabetical order.

1 Introduction (12 pt Times New Roman bold)

Introduction should state the reason for the work. It informs about the applied method and its

advantages. Text must be prepared using A4 paper format with 25 mm margins in 12 pt

Times New Roman font, with double line spacing. It should be positioned in one column and

fully justified (left and right). Chapter headings should be aligned to the left and formatted in

12 pt Times New Roman bold. Papers should be written in English.

Manuscripts should be prepared using Word 97 - 2003 file format (.DOC) and submitted in

digital form through the e-mail address [email protected]. Papers submitted will be reviewed. 2 of 8

On the basis of the Reviewer’s comments, author(s) of accepted papers will be asked to revise

the paper/ answer the queries.

1.1 Second level heading (12 pt Times New Roman bold italic)

Divide your paper into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be

numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, …), 1.2, 1.3 etc. Any subsection may be given a brief

heading. It is important that the grammar and spelling of your paper are correct. If English is

not your first language, please have a native English speaker check your paper for you. When

finished, double-check the entire paper thoroughly, and make sure that all figures, captions,

tables, equations etc. are legible. Please use one blank line between each paragraph and after

each heading.

1.1.1 Third level heading (12 pt Times New Roman bold italic)

It is not recommended to use more than three levels of headings.

2 Mathematical equations, figures, tables

2.1 Equations

All equations must be sequentially numbered, with the equation number right justified

between normal parentheses and using Arab numbering. Complete mathematical procedures

for formulas derivations should be avoided. For writing equations we recommend you to use

MS Word’s Equation editor 3.0 with font sizes described in Figure 1.

Figure 1 – Equation’s font sizes

When referring to equations in the text, the equation number should be preceded by the word

‘eqn’ or ‘eqns’, while the equation number should be put in parentheses, i.e. eqn (1).

Equations should be numbered simply (1), (2), etc. Please ensure that subscripts and

superscripts are clearly legible.

(1)

Explanation of the marks used in the equation should be given after the equation. The use of

International System of units (SI) is recommended. Mixed units are to be avoided.

2.2 Tables

Tables should be inserted into the text next to their first reference and respecting the referred

text area above. Number the tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the

text. Smaller font sizes may be used (no less than 7 pt), providing they are clearly legible, to

enable the table to fit the space. All tables should be centred on the page and must have a

caption that should be placed immediately above the table.

2.3 Figures, photographs, illustrations, diagrams

Figures (photographs, drawings, graphs and diagrams) can be black-and-white or in colour,

and may be in JPG/JPEG, PNG, TIF (TIFF Bitmap) or BMP (Windows Bitmap) file format,

with a resolution of 300 dpi. Vector graphics produced using AutoCAD or similar software

should be converted to JPG/JPEG, TIF or BMP raster format, with size fitted to article format.

Photographs, if any, should be prepared in adequate resolution (300 dpi). Every figure should

be numbered, titled and positioned in the paper. All figures must be given sequential numbers

(1, 2, 3, etc.) and have a caption placed below the figure.

2.4 Cross-ref's (equations, figures, tables, etc.)

When referring to equations, enclose the numbers in parentheses and precede them with “Eq.”

or “Eqs.”. Put an unbreakable space between “Eq.” and the number. For example, you can

refer to Eq. (3).

When referring to figures, precede the number with “Figure”. Put an unbreakable space

between “Figure” and the number. For example, you can refer to Figure 6.

When referring to tables, precede the number with the word “Table”. Put an unbreakable

space between “Table” and the number. For example, you can refer to Table 2.

When referring to sections, subsections and sub-subsections precede the number with the

word “Section”. Put an unbreakable space between “Section” and the number. For example,

you can refer to Section 2 or Section 2.1.

3 Other important information

Papers must be original and still unpublished contributions, and should not simultaneously be

offered to another journal, conference etc. The author is responsible for the information

presented in the paper and for obtaining any approvals that may be needed for publication of

individual pieces of information. Papers are evaluated by two reviewers as nominated by the

Conference Organisation committee.

The whole paper should not exceed 16 pages, written in double space. This length may be

exceeded only if approved by the Organising Committee.

4 Conclusion

The results described in the paper, and the effectiveness of the method used, should be stated

in conclusion.
