Style AR Connection Head

Hot or Measuring Junctions Available in Single Dual Element Cable

Thermocouples wires are butt-welded. Insulation is sealed against liquid or gas penetration. This junction style provides the fastest possible response time but leaves the thermocouple wires unprotected against corrosive or mechanical damage.

The sheath and conductors are welded together forming a completely sealed integral junction.

Recommended in presence of liquids, moisture, gas, or high pressure. The wire is protected from corrosive or erosive conditions. In the Grounded Junction, response time approaches that of the Exposed Junction.

Thermocouple junction is fully insulated from welded sheath end. Excellent for applications where stray emf's would affect the reading, and for frequent or rapid temperature cycling. In the Ungrounded Junction, response time is slightly longer then for the Grounded Junction.

Industronics - Temp Sensor - Resistance Temperature Detector Applications

Platinum resistance to temperature detectors (RTD's) is used for temperature measurements in the range of -328ºF to 1166ºF. The electrical resistance of the platinum wire utilized is proportional to temperature variation. This variation is precise and repeatable. The electrical resistance in the RTD is measured by an indicating instrument which converts the reading to a temperature.

RTD's provide electrical and mechanical stability with negligible drift and error. Their design allows for easy installation in new or existing equipment.

RTD's are excellent for use in detecting stator and winding temperatures in large and medium motors, generators, and transformers. Other typical applications include temperature measurements in pumps, turbines, and compressors. RTD's are also used to measure temperatures in processing equipment for chemicals, petroleum, power, food, plastics, and solar energy.

Repeatability and stability are important characteristics of all RTD's. Repeatability is +/- 18ºF over the full temperature range. Stability tests after one year indicate drift to be only +/- 18ºF at 32ºF within the rated temperatures.

Industronic's thermocouple wire and elements can be calibrated and certified at an extra charge. Each thermocouple, coil, reel, or spool of wire is then tagged to show the individual departure from the curve. Once calibrated, their exact departure from the standard curve at any specified temperature is known and taken into account. Thermocouples and wire samples sent to the factory for calibrating must be at least 24 inches long.

The normal calibrating temperature range is from 32ºF to 2200ºF, depending on wire type and gauge. Sub-zero and cryogenic calibrating is available at standard checkpoints.
