5P’s Women’s Football Team

SAP in Championship celebration

SAP—2012 ABFA Women’s Football Champions

Future Kings defeated Villa Lions 1—0, on Tuesday, July 24, in the Final, at the Radio Range Football to capture the ABFA U-17 Boys’ Football Championship title. The lone goal came from Alexson Montoute.

Devita Edwards of Lady SAP capitalized

on an open 5P’s back-door defense, in the 16th minute of the first half of the Final of the ABFA Cool & Smooth Women’s Foot-ball Senior Division on Friday night, July 27, at the Radio Range Football Grounds, sending a signal to the Defending Champs, that their reign was nearing an end.

Lady SAP came into the Final on 34pts with 5P’s on 31pts, meaning Lady SAP only needed a draw to send the Defending Champs packing.

Both teams seemed evenly poised with a number of chances at either end. However, a handled ball in the SAP penalty area, as both teams bunched, gave 5P’s Amelia Greene the equalizer from the penalty spot close to the end of the half.

During the second half, both custodians, Anik Jarvis of 5P’s and Dominique David of SAP exhibited some excellent saves to keep their gates closed for the 1—1draw at the final whistle.

In the first game of the double header for-mer favorites Empire Star Girls drew 0—0 with Lady Hoppers to settle for 3rd and 4th Places, respectively.

Meanwhile, according to Gwen Salmon, Chairperson of the ABFA Women’s Pro-gram, the third round in the ABFA Women’s U-17 Division will continue after the carnival season.
