The Theni district has submitted the following estimate for the bridge work

sanctioned under PMGSY Phase- VIII (Bharat Nirman-III) 2012-13. The G.O has

been accorded vide 2nd cited. The estimates have been technically scrutinized and

detailed note is put up below for approval.

It is proposed to construct the bridge with the following provisions:

1. Clearing Scrub/Light jungle on both sides for approach road.

2. Earth work for Embankment & Subgrade for approach road.

3. Providing and laying Gravel Soling for side berm for approach road.

4. Providing sub base as Granular Sub base for approach road.

5. Providing and laying WBM Grade II for approach road.

6. Providing and laying WBM Grade III for approach road.

7. Providing and applying Primer coat with bitumen emulsion(SS-1) using 0.850

Kg/sqm for approach road.

8. Providing and applying Tack coat with Bitumen emulsion(RS-1) using

0.275Kg/sqm for approach road.

9. Premix carpet with seal coat Type-A 20mm thick for approach road.

10.Providing Retaining wall and Protective wall for approach road.

11.Provision for Name Board , Logo board, signboard and Citizen board

13.Provision for Labour welfare fund

14. Apron and bed protection works should be completed simultaneously along

with bridge foundation to avoid scouring of foundation during monsoon.

15. Safe Bearing capacity of soil should be ensured by conducting plate load test

before execution of foundation.

16. Pile load test to be conducted for piles and pile carrying capacity and

settlement Criteria should be satisfied before execution of abutment and pier.

17. Approved Design mix should be adopted for concrete works.

18. The Bridge alignment should be coinciding with road alignment and the road

level should be maintained.

19. Periodical testing of construction materials should be done and test reports,

and test registers should be maintained properly.

20. The cover for RCC Members should be properly maintained, cover block should

be cast at site and use of jelly as cover blocks should be avoided.

21. Concrete cube test on design mix should be carried and results should be

compared with IS 456 - 2000 as the theoretical values achieved.

22. The Executive Engineer (RD) should confirm the quality tests and to ensure the

quality before making Payment without fail.

23. The quality tests on water used for construction should be done.

24. The suitability of the water should be decided based on standards.

25. The centering and formwork for Deck Slab should be checked by the field

Engineers concerned and should be got approved from the Executive Engineer

before laying of concrete.

The estimates may be technically sanctioned for the aggregate cost of

Rs. 4,40,00,000/-(Four Crore and Forty Lakhs Only)

The estimate has been prepared based on the PWD/ Highways schedule of

rates for the year 2012-13.

Your attention is drawn to the above references cited. You have submitted

the following estimate for the bridge work sanctioned under PMGSY Phase- VIII

(Bharat Nirman-III) 2012-13. The G.O has been accorded vide 2nd cited. The

estimates have been technically sanctioned as follows.

The Executive Engineer is instructed to adhere the following points strictly while

execution:

1. Proper Camber & Gradient should be maintained in approach road as per IRC

norms.

2. The surface should be properly cleaned before applying tack coat in approach

road.

3. The Shoulders should be compacted along with the pavement of approach

road.

4. The WBM layer should be compacted without any undulations in approach

road

5. Number of Trail Pits should be provided and soil classification be Analyzed and

it should be confirmed before execution of work again.

6. Periodical testing of construction materials should be done and test

reports, and test registers should be maintained properly.

7. The cover for RCC Members should be properly maintained, cover block
