Sense ofFashionWhat is sense of

fashion?Statement• For teenagers, fashion is first and foremost a social statement. It is an outward

means of expression to their peers and the rest of the world.

Identity• Fashion also provides teenagers a sense of identity by signaling which

"grouping" they belong to ("punk," "goth," etc.). It may also signal a more independent or inclusive personality.

Attraction• Teens can be extremely conscious about overall image when it comes to sexual

attraction. They will often exploit fashion as a means to attract a certain type of person.

Rebellion• Rebellion may also be acted out via fashion. Since rebellion is often a huge

aspect of a teenager's life, it is not shocking that teens often use licentious or shocking fashion to rebel against their parents, their classmates, and/or society.

Celebrities• Often, fashion for teenagers is the result of the desire to be like a celebrity.

Celebrities are perhaps the greatest influences on teenagers in the modern world, and they can have a huge impact on a teen's ideas about fashion and its importance.

I dress for me. Not for the image, not for the

public, not for fashion, not for other

women or men. This is my sense of

fashion!

I’m not fashion,I do fashion in my own way!

Page 15: Teenager Magazine

Places That Are Even Better During The Winter

Vacations

Page 24: Teenager Magazine

The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort “Ocean-view” has a whole new meaning

at The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort. One- and two-bedroom overwater villas boast private decks and glass panels in the floor that give you a constant view of Bora Bora’s azure water below. The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort has many places that are perfect for taking in Bora Bora’s sunset, as well as many fine places to eat. You can do both at the on-site Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Lagoon Restaurant, where the outdoor deck is prime real estate

around dusk.

Deep blue water and towering, tree-studded mountains add a decidedly exotic feel to Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort . The luxury hotel’s beachfront bungalows are, hands down, the best places to experience the stunning beauty of a St. Lucia sunset over the Caribbean Sea.

The promise of spending breezy, sunny days on the beach is what draws many visitors to Mandarin Oriental, Sanya. The best place to do just that is a Coral Bay Deluxe Villa, which puts you right at the edge of Sanya’s jaw-dropping South China Sea panorama—with a private sundeck, gazebo and an

infinity pool, to boot.

Colorful reefs and mysterious shipwrecks come to life under the Caribbean Sea. Guests at Viceroy Anguilla can explore the marvels that lie below the surface of the turquoise waters with the resort's snorkeling and scuba excursions, activities that are popular with locals and visitors alike.

Ocean House, Watch Hill, R.I.

Today Ocean house, in Watch Hill, R.I., is a replica of the original hotel that lured discerning travelers when it first opened in 1868. Modern technology updates have brought the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel up to 21st century standards—but with the stunning coastal Rhode Island scapes just outside, we don’t suspect you’ll have much need for them.

Miami may be nice, but one of our favorite beachfront hotels is located 20 minutes north of South Beach in beautiful Sunny Isles Beach. Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Acqualina Resort & Spa lays claim to 400 feet of Atlantic Ocean coastline, perfect for shell hunting and strolling, as well as a chic pool that beckons with clear water and comfy red lounge chairs.
