What is TEEM?
We were privileged to have 18 students join us for our student ministry launch August 24! Thank you, Greene Street, for supporting this initiative in our church and community. A
clipboard was passed during the worship gatherings the morning of our launch asking for food donations and adults to show up in support of our students, and to my great pleasure, nearly every volunteer slot was filled by you. Thank you!
If you’re wondering what this ministry is all about, keep reading, because we believe God is up
to something good (like usual). Our student ministries is called TEEM – an acronym I’ll explain below, most of which I shared with the students during our initial gathering:
T – a place for Teens; where students in 7-12 grades are welcome to gather each Sunday from 5-7 PM for food, fun, and faith-building.
E - a safe place where students can Engage with what’s truly important; a place where every person feels safe, valued, loved and cared for.
E – a place where students are Empowered to grow in their relationship with Jesus; a place
where students can discern what their next steps might be; a place where students can get back up after falling; a place where teens are supported through thick and thin.
M – a place where students are Mobilized and provided with real-world opportunities to love, serve and share faith in the community.
This isn't a ministry that’s simply for teens, but with teens. We want students to be involved in every facet of what we do. We want teens in leadership, leading worship, sharing stories,
helping serve, plan and shape the future of the movement. Adults will mentor/shepherd students along the way, not so much serving as a “Sage from the Stage” but a “Guide by the
side.” Imagine the impact we could have together. Imagine how our city might react to a group of 13-
18 year-olds who are passionate about Jesus, and committed to living the great commission to “Go and make disciples.” I believe it would bring the Kingdom of heaven down to earth.
We’ll keep you posted along the way, and inform you of any particular needs which may arise. We have a fantastic group of leaders who are committed to reaching every student with the life
-changing love of Jesus. We understand it takes a whole church to make the kind of lasting impact that shapes and changes lives for the long haul, and we thank you for supporting this
ministry new initiative among us!

Remember to check your Kroger receipt and make sure it is printing out Greene Street at the end of the receipt. If not, please contact the church office and we’ll sign you up. Dear Greene Street UMC of Piqua,
Thank you for your gift of $ 614.89 to Imagine No Malaria supporting the United Methodist Church's
commitment to eliminate malaria as a major source of death and suffering in Africa by 2015. Your support serves as an example of how we are
living Christ’s call to heal the sick and help those
in need.
Imagine No Malaria includes continued bed net
distributions, community education programs with medical outreach training, radio communications programs reaching remote areas with vital
information, and programs that strengthen clinics
and hospitals to better diagnose and treat malaria.
Thank you for your generosity. Please continue to
pray for our work and those we serve.
Peace and Joy!

A while back we received a very generous
donation with the intent of upgrading the sound/media area of the church. Plans
have been made for a completely new media area that will offer more room, allow us to turn the sound board to face the front of the
sanctuary, an elevated vantage point, a lockable door, and steps for safety and
security. As you may have noticed, construction is underway. Please excuse the mess while construction is completed!

Daycare News
A new school year is here. It is exciting to announce a new addition to the programming of
Greene Street Daycare/Preschool. Tori Brodrick will be teaching music and
movement to all the classrooms. How exciting it is going to be to watch this added program and to see what the children are
learning and the enjoyment in their eyes. The first days of preschool are just around
the corner. T/Th Bible, M-F and Pre-K classes begin September 2rd. M/W/F Bible, M/W/F
Pm, and M/W classes begin September 3rd. Lots of new faces will be entering our building over the next couple of weeks. Some with
smiles and some with tears. Please pray that our transition into this new school year will
be as smooth as possible. Thank you for continuing to show your support. We are very blessed to have a church with such open
arms.
