B.2 - General operation. During autotest, the display will show the version and date of the software. Once you have accessed into the programming mode, the display will show the following message :

Text appearing on the terminal screen when entering the programming mode

The advantage of having a display is that the programming is more intuitive and allows a better knowledge of the operation in progress. • The main menu has got 10 options which will appear successively as long as the "SPACE" key is pressed. • If in any of the main menu options the "ENTER" key is pressed, you will access the corresponding sub-menu.

• When accessing a sub-menu (as well as in the main menu), if you press the "SPACE" key the options of the current

sub-menu will appear.

• If when in a sub-menu you press the "ENTER" key, the program will execute the selected function.

• If when in a sub-menu you press the "Z" key or the "ESC" key, the terminal will go back to option 0 of the main menu. (system adjustments)).

• If during a test or a selection you press the "ESC" key, the terminal will go back to the corresponding option of the sub-menu.

0.3 - Programming of the prices and coins This optión allows the changement of the default prices of use set in the software of the unit, as well as the value of each coin slot. First of all, you must program the prices of use and after you indicate the value for each one of the slots installed in the unit. When you change the prices of use, remember to change also the stickers above the coin entries which indicate the price to pay. Important note: To activate the use of the unit, you can use any of the coins acccepted by the coin salots. For example, you can program the ful operation at 1,20€ (supposing that the slots present in the unit are of 1€ and 0,2€). In this case, the user must insert a coin of each type, or six coins of 0,2€, until completing the amount for the fulloperation. In the following example, the unit is set to 1€ for the full operation, 0,40€ for the partial operation, and the slots present in the unit are of 1€ for slot 1 and 0,20€ for slot 2:

These cummulated are not cleared when making a collection report.

1- Value calculated according to the number of uses and the proce programmed for each use: 10 uses x 0,4 € / use + 5 uses x 1,0€ / use = 9,0 € 2- Depending on the combination of coins and prices, and because the unit does not give change, it may happen that the user insert amounts higher to the indicated ones, but that do not reach the value of more than one use. In these cases there is a discrepancy between the calculated amount for the uses and the real number of coins detected. Therefore, the “Contabilized” indicates the money that the unit has validated. This amount has to be equal or higher to the “Value in Euros” amount.

1 - Adjustments of the height system. Option 1 of the main menu. The measurement of height is based on a system of calculation of distance by means of ultrasounds. The main components of the system are the acoustic transducer (located at the top of the unit) and the electronic measurement circuit, which is controlled by the Main Board P1PC. This chapter depicts the procedure to adjust the height system. 1.0 - Reset of the height system During the autotest process, the unit makes an auto-zero of the height system. With this option of the menu, this process can be made without having to switch the unit off and on again. When making an auto-zero of the height system, the unit understands that there is nothing on the platform. The value of the measured signal at this moment is taken as the zero value (0 cm) of the height system. This is why it is so important to check that there is nothing on the platform before doing this process. Proceed as follows:

1.3 - Indication of the inner height of the unit The average inner height of the unit (distance from the height sensor to the platform) is of 210cm. Due to the moulding of the body, this value can vary, and it is set when the unit is manufactured, so that it will be automatically stored in the memory when making a memory reset. This adjustment will only be necessary if for any reason the inner height of the unit needs to be changed. During the autotest process, the unit makes an autozero of the height system. The autozero and height measuring systems are based on a known distance which is the inner height of the unit. Therefore, if this distance is different from the value stored in the memory, there will be a constant calculation error which will lead to a wrong result of the measurement. The taller is the user, the greater this error will be. Let's suppose that we have measured an inner height of 210 cm on a unit set to 208 cm. Here are the steps to follow to indicate a new inner height:

2 - Adjustments of the weight system. Option 2 of the main menu The measuring of the weight is made through the electrical signals sent by a load cell located under the platform of the unit. These signals are then converted and processed by the Main Board P1PC. This chapter describes the steps to follow for a correct adjustment of the components associated to the weight system. 2.0 - Auto-zero or reset of the weight system. Similarly to what happens to the height system, during the initial autotest the unit makes an auto-zero of the weight system. With this option of the Advanced Programming Mode, this process can be made without having to switch the unit off and on again. When making an auto-zero of the weight system, the unit understands that there is nothing on the platform. The value of the signal sent by the load cell at this moment is taken as the zero value (0 kg) of the weight system. This is why it is so important to check that there is nothing on the platform before doing this process. Proceed as follows:

2.2 - Calibration of the weight system.

Important Note: The weight adjustment is made automatically by the unit, by means of internal calculations. To avoid errors which would lead to a wrong calibration, take the following into account: • It is important that the unit is well stabilized. • Use weights in perfect condition. If it is possible, use homologated or certified weights. A correct calibration can be

ensured only if the weights are correct. Do not use bottles of water or other objects that you think that you know their exact weight.

• When placing a weight on the platform, make sure that it lays stable. • Avoid vibrations during the calibration (walk near the unit, etc.) since they can cause wrong measurements to the

system. Proceed as follows:

Key Function to execute or select Terminal Display 'Z' or 'ESC' Goes to option 0 of the main menu.

3.1 - Calibration of the blood pressure. The calibration is made in two steps:

• The unit measures the value of the atmospheric pressure. In this moment, you must not apply any pressure to the sensor, and the valve of the rubber bulb must be open.

• A pressure of 200 mmHg is applied to the column and the unit measures its value. Important Note: The pressure adjustment is made automatically by the unit, by means of internal calculations, based on the indicated data. To obtain a correct calibration, take the following into account: • Use a mercurial column or a manometer duly calibrated and certified. • Make sure that before inflating the mercurial column or manometer, the indication of the scale is 0 mmHg. • Make sure that there is no leakage in the tubing. It is also important (during the second step, when applying

pressure to the sensor) that the pressure is constant and stable during the process of adjustment. • If necessary, add a supplementary reservoir to the tubing so that the capacity of the air circuit is bigger and the

leakage is minimized.

Before, you must connect the manometer, with the valve open, to the pressure sensor so that the valve and the compressor are out of the circuit. The resulting pneumatic system must be composed of the pressure sensor, the cuff (used as reservoir) and the manometer.

3.3 - Escapement test. This adjustment is very important to get correct blood pressure measurements. If the air exhausting decay rate is too quick, the unit will lose information and the measurement will not be correct. If it is too low, the measurement will be uncomfortable for the user (and his normal blood pressure will be altered), and the over pressure created by the blood impulsions will not allow a correct calculation. The escapement valve of the unit is automatically regulated and does require any type of adjustment. This test lets you check the corrrect operation of the escapement valve..

The decay rate of the escapement must be of 3,5 to 4,5 mmHg / second during the measurement.

When this test is activated, the process is the following:

1. Inflates the cuff up to 245mmHg 2. Activates the automatic escapement control and tries to reach a decay rate between the required limits (3,5 to

4,5mmHg/second). The maximum display shows the pressure in the cuff at every moment and the minimum display shows the decay rate.

3. When the pressure is 50mmHg, a ticket is printed with the elapsed time since the pressure was 250mmHg until reaching 50mmHg , and with the maximum and minimum decay rate registered.

4. During a few seconds, the system open and closes the escapement valve several times. 5. After a while, the system start the whole process again. 6. To end the escapement test, press the red key.

An escapement valve operating correctly must comply with the following requirements:

Requirements of an escapement valve operating correctly • Repetitive: The elapsed time must be practically the same in all the tests. The decay rates must

be almost the same. • Be in the limits: Most of the maximum and minimum decay rates registered on the ticket have to be

between 3,5mmHg/s (minimum) and 4,5mmHg/s (maximum). Procedure to start the escapement test:

4 - Body fat adjustment. Option 4 of the main menu.

4.0 - Impedance test The estimation of the body fat index made by the unit is the result of a complex calculation in which the measurements of weight, height, bioelectrical impedance, age and sex among other data are combined. To measure the bioelectrical impedance the unit has got 4 contacts located on both sides of the unit. These contacts are the responsible of measuring the resistance of the body to the passage of an electrical current, that is to say, the bioelectrical impedance. The impedance test allows the verification of the correct measurement of the impedance made by the unit. For this puspose, you must place special connectors that allow the connection of resistors of known value and verify if the measurement made by the unit is correct. Proceed as follows:

7 - Programming of the ticket header and footer. Option 7 of the main menu. The tickets printed by the unit have three sections: Section Description 1 - Header In general, the ticket header is programmed with the data of the premises where

the unit is installed (name, address, etc.) 2 - Results of measurements Contains the results of the measurements and ideal data. 3 - Footer The message in this section is optional. It can be used to give advises, or for

promotion. There are 2 messages, and according to the using option selected, the ticket will have message 1 or 2 (see adjustment of the flags).

The header and end of ticket is composed of 5 lines of 32 characters each one. Since the keyboard of the terminal only has 4 lines of 20 characters, during the programming the lines appear succesively on the display. The special terminal functions are the following:

Key Function ENTER Every time that you press ENTER, you go to next line. When you are on line 5 and press ENTER, the

programming ends and the text is saved. ESC Cancels the process.

< Moves the cursor to the left > Moves the cursor to the right. ^ If you wish a double wide character, press this key before the desired character.

CRTL + C This combination does the same function as "ENTER" but it also centers the text in the current line. 7.1 - Example of programming The procedure to program the header and the footers are the same. The only difference is the initial selection:

• 7 0 = Programming the header • 7 1 = Programming footer 1 • 7 2 = Programming footer 2

Practical example Suppose that you want to add the text "PERCY STORES" at the beginning of line 2 of the current header. Proceed as follows:

8 - Configuration of the smart cards. Option 8 of the main menu. The unit is equipped with a smart card reader. Its basic application (there can be other ones) is the use as a pre-payment and data storing system for the user of the unit. A sector of the card stores the credit and the number of the unit to which the card is assigned and another sector stores the last 20 measurements of weight, height and blood pressure, with the date of every measurement. The user can buy a card with a number of credits for use already stored. Every time that he inserts the card in the unit at the premises where he bought the card, he will be able to make a complete operation, whose results will be stored (as a history) in the card. He will also obtain a list of the stored measurements in the card. The credit will decrease as long as he uses the unit. Once finished, the card can be recharged with new credit or even be returned so that it can be reused by another person who buys it. The group of options depicted in the present chapter, allows you to record the identification number that the unit and the card will use (so that a unit can recognize if a card belongs to that premise (or group of premises) or not), erase the data contained in the card, charge new credits and list the recorded measurements and/or the identification data of the card. If a card is used in a premise other than the one where it was purchased, the user will have to insert coins to use the unit. But if he inserts the card and keeps it until the end of the process (printing of the ticket), the results will be stored in the card. He will not be able to obtain a list of the stored measurements, since this option is only possible at premise where he bought the card. 8.0 - Programming of the key number in the card This key number, which remains stored in the memory of the unit, is recorded automatically in the cards when doing the operations of credit charge and card data erase. This way, the unit knows if a card belongs to that premise or not. Suppose that you want to set the key number 123 for the smart cards. Proceed as follows:

Key Function to execute or select Terminal Display 'Z' or 'ESC' Goes to option 0 of the main menu.
